Save Log 18: Aren't Those Crows?

"Ah! Looks like it already started! I guess we have to pause the show for now! All the adventurers to the Gelvin's Farm!"

The announcer of the dumpling-eating competition said as the adventurers of the guild started to leave.

"Seriously, what the heck is going on?"

"You will see, you will see. Come on! We can't waste our time standing here!" Lina sprinted ahead of us saying that.

"I didn't get to see it last year. I hope I can enjoy it this time."

"Hey Furara, do you know what's going on?"

"I am sorry. I am as lost as you are."

"I heard this from my previous master. I think this about the…"

We arrived at the farm which is now filled with many adventurers. Men, I never saw this many people at the guild before.

Just like Zefira said, the farm is now attacked by some...Shadow Ravens.

"Kraaw!"

Those things were flapping and cawing high above the golden paddy field. The new moon was shining with its little light up in the sky. The shadow ravens were 4 times bigger than a regular raven or were ravens that big in our world too? I have never seen one before.

"Alright, I am gonna break my record this year."

"Let's goooo!"

"What is this event anyway?"

Everyone was in heat for a battle. Some new members like me don't know what this is all about.

" 'ahem' Hello?! Is this working?" a voice came out from the howler boxes around the area.

"Wait, isn't that…"

"Yep, it's the guild master Balvezar Stoneheart." Lina replied to Furara.

The guild master of Midlofhin Guild and Tavern. I heard none of the guild members had seen his face except Siyol and Alice. Some say he is even more powerful than our best member, Dandold the Crusader.

"My fellow adventurers! The Harvest Festival came yet again upon the town of Midlofhin! Just like last year, Shadow Ravens are attacking the town fields! I hope you are all going to do your best to eradicate them!"

The whole crowd applauded and cheered on. I also clapped along with Lina and Joro. Furara also joined us.

"A whole lot of bunch came out this year as well. For this year, each one you slay will get 8,000 Azuls! Now then, begin the quest!"

All the adventurers on the scene begin the hunt. All dashed toward the fields where the crows are flapping. Yes, I think they are crows. The difference between a crow and a raven is that crows have silver lining around the neck area, raven's don't.

"Don't they look like a crow?"

"They are crows. They are undead crows after dying out of hunger."

"But someone thought that it was a raven and named it Shadow raven." Zefira finished the sentence.

What the heck? What kind of dumb idea is that? Also, that's a pretty sad story.

"You are in advantage, Hanjiro. The Shadow Ravens can't be hit by swords and spears since they can fly and you are good at ranged-type attacks."

"Thank you Joro, also, I am also aware of that."

I equipped my bow and got ready for the hunt as well.

"Furara-san, I will help you with this. Drake and I will supply you mana and you use your magic."

"Got it. Thank you Joro-san."

"Hey hey hey, what about me?"

"Just protect me if any crowd comes flying down to attack us," I said to Lina.

"Alright, let's have a duel then. The team who gets the most Shadow ravens wins and each will get the prize they get. No sharing.

"Hmm alright. Sounds like a plan."

"I can't lose with Joro and Draken-san on my team."

"You bet we won't, girl." Drake said with his usual deep voice.

"Shadow crows," I said.

"They are called Shadow Ravens. Anyway, let's go then!"

"What about me Hanjiro-sama?"

"Hmm? Oh well, just sit and watch us I guess."

"Alright. I will be cheering you on." Zefira headed toward the audience gallery.

We marched toward the fields filled with golden paddies. Since it's the new moon we have to rely on the light post around the area. Some mage were helping their team by illuminating the way. That's right.

"Hey Lina, you have night vision right? Tell where the ravens are."

"There is one right above you."

I looked up as she said. I can't see it that properly but a figure was moving right above me.

"Snipe shot!"

The arrow pierced through the shadow crow as it cawed and fell on the ground.

"There is one attacking from behind!"

We dodged the crow which was dashing toward us from behind to attack.

"Knife throw!"

Lina threw the knife at the crow and landed hit on its left wing. It fell on the ground as the wing was damaged.

"Steal!" the knife came back to Lina's hand.

"Wait, get my arrow too then!"

"Nah don't wanna. You can buy more arrows but this dagger is my best friend. I can't just lose it."

"What the heck?"

"Don't what the heck me. We both know arrows are less valuabl..look out!"

Lina pushed to the side. Another crow dashed right beside us.

"Thank you.."

"Don't mention it. Come on! We only got 2 of them. We need to get more if ya want more cash!"

Well, she is right! The number of crows is decreasing. We should hurry and get more of those damn crows. Also, we are competing with Furara and Jorken. Hang on, where is Furara?

"Flare Bursto!"

A huge amount of fire suddenly burst out toward the crows. All the crows caught in the fire banished.

"What the hell was that?"

"I've never seen such fire magic in my life!"

"That's a master class fire magic that's why!"

Everyone was chatting about the sudden fire burst. It was amazing. I also never witnessed this kind of magic either. The adventurers here can only do intermediate magic. Nothing above that level.

"Was it you Maruka?" Glider asked his partner.

"No. It's not me. Rather it's..."

The source of the magic came from, one and only,

"What an amazing performance by Furara Legonmun! She got 12 shadow ravens with that!" The guild master announced through the howler box

"Ohh! Are you alright? Did you lose your memory?"

"Tha-thankfully no. I am fine." everyone gave out a loud OH after she finished her sentence.

"That's amazing. You sure know some pretty powerful spells, Furara!"

"Where did ya learn it?"

"I am impressed Furara. Casting that level of magic without facing the problem."

Everyone was praising Furara including Maruka, her classmate.

"He-hey guys. The crows are running away." I tried to get their attention. But they were too focused on Furara. Meanwhile, Furara was red as tomatoes. Those crazy tomatoes I had to deal with on this farm. I was about to go and help her out but Dermin was already doing it.

"Forget them Hanji. Let's get the Shadow Ravens for ourselves!"

"You dirty little cat. Alright then! Tell me where they are!"

And we got 5 more crows from those that we're trying to escape. We got ourselves 56,000 azuls and 100,000 azuls by Furara as a bonus.

"Yo Furara, you know how wonderful mage you are?"

"Sorry, Lina-san, you said yourself that the team will only have the prize money of their own."

"God damn it. I couldn't don't Hanji." Lina said after the failed attempt of boasting.

"It's alright. She did give us the amulet of strength. Now, where is that black market you told me about."

We decided to sell the amulet the next day. Since the amulet can be worn at 25 level it's no use for me. Furara is a mage and Lina just want to sell it. So it's better to sell it like she want. With that amulet sold, Lina said that the money will be around 90,000 to 95,000 azuls in total. At least it's closer to Furara's reward.
