Save log 30: Taking a Break After the Traumatizing Event

I am now in my room, covering myself under a pile of blankets. The crimson light of the dusk coming through the gap of the curtains filled the room. The long table placed by the door moved away with the door being opened slowly.

"Hanjiro-sama, your comrades want to.."

"I want to talk to anyone. Get out of the room please." I replied with a dead tone. Aneca-san left the room giving a low bow. The door and the table went back to their place.

I buried my face back into the blanket. Hoping to get some sleep. But, the shock from that incident in the temple is still with me. I remained dead in the comfy cave of the blankets.

'Knock' 'Knock'

"Umm, Hanji...I know you are pretty traumatized and all after what happened to you. But, you can't just shut in your room like that. You are making us worried. Even Glider came earlier to apologize to you. It was his fault, to begin with. That damn bastard."

Why the heck did you come here to say that when I wanted to take some rest you damn cat?!

Just like Lina said, Glider was responsible for what has happened to me. Not that he forced us to this quest but the fact that he didn't tell us that this quest was still under investigation.

The new guy with his party known as the 'Crimson Blade' is becoming famous in the guild. He has done many great and high-level quests. Glider became very jealous of that dude and wanted to show that he can do something better. And so, they overheard the staff member talking about the dungeon in Mt. Mist Temple.

He made Siyol talk about it, according to her there is a dungeon inside the temple guarded by the golem. The one we went into. But, since there is a seal and there is a chance that this dungeon might have dangerous beasts, they decided to check on it later and put it as a quest under surveillance.

Yet, that damn bastard wanted to explore it to gain fame and money.

"Do you need some more time alone?" said Furara from the other side.

"Yes, that would be helpful."

"A'ight, let us know if you need anything." Furara and Lina left the doorstep of my room since there were footsteps.

I went back into my sheets. It feels way comfy and nicer than a heater. I fell asleep without noticing.

I don't know how long I slept but I woke up after seeing a nightmare. I was being eaten alive by a dragon. The cold saliva sent me chills to the spine.

I was feeling very cold waking up. Did I got eaten by a dragon for real?!

When I took a look around, I found Emona standing in front of the bed with my blankets on the floor.

"What the heck is wrong with you?!"

"You weren't waking up and covered with sweat. I didn't think you would scream like that if I pulled those sheets."

...that was awkward.

"I will tell the others that you woke up." I didn't say anything back. She left the room quietly without any answer.

~Next Day~

"Oi Hanji! Stop fooling around! You didn't eat last night. What do you mean you won't have breakfast?"

"I don't wanna. Go away."

"Food is essential, you know. I wonder how you are all cool without having dinner last night." said Furara.

"Not everyone in this world is like you. Also, Draken brought me roasted kuckler meat."

''A'ight, that's good to hear I guess."

"I-I will leave your food by the door. Eat it when you feel like it, Hanjiro-sama." Zefira said from the other side.

"We hope you feel well before evening."

They left the doorstep of my room. I remained in my cave. After a few moments, something growled from the blanket pile. I am hungry. I hesitated to get the dish waiting on the other side but, hunger won.

I got up from the bed, quietly not making any sound, approached the door and opened it.

I picked the plate of food and looked around. Emona was standing on the right side of the door expressionless as always.

"Heh, guess hunger won in the end."

I slammed the door quickly with the platter in my other hand.

~Afternoon~

"C-can I come in master?"

I stayed quiet and hidden in the blankets. Zefira opened the room and entered anyway. I could tell she is approaching the bed hearing the footsteps.

"Umm, Hanjiro-sama, I am aware that you are not feeling well. Wo-would punishing me with this broom make you feel better?"

I came out from the cave and stared at Zefira. She isn't wearing her usual maid outfit. The one she is wearing must be Milona's.

"If you say that one more time, I swear I will take away that broomstick of yours."

I could see Zefira's face turn pale in shock.

"I-I will leave as you a-are then." she slowly left the room. Someone must have removed the table I put beside the door.

Not long after Zefira left the room, someone else knocked on the door.

"Yo Hanji! I am coming in. I don't care if you are naked or not. Although it's freaking cold today."

Why would anyone be naked in this cold?!

"Eh? You blocked the door again? You son of a..Hey Mashihi, ya know how to remove things?"

"No I dooon't Sowwy! I will get Furorem-neesan if you want.." someone ran away from the doorstep.

After few minutes, Lina got into my room and approached the bed where I am hiding.

"You sure have some nice comfy place in there. Stop hiding already. Say, want to go steal something Glider is fond of? We will get revenge by that." Lina tried to make me feel better in her way.

"If only you knew how to get away after stealing."

"Well aaa...that's...that's true I guess…..I am useless." Lina failed to do the job.

I guessed that someone else might pop out after Lina lefts. And I was right, Furara entered the room.

"Hey, Hanjiro...how are you feeling today?"

"....ok."

"Oh, I see."

There was an awkward silence in the room. I stared at her from the cave, while she stands by the bed. Finally, she spoke,

"S-say, would you like to go to dinner in a fancy restaurant? It will be my treat. We can enjoy some nice food. I am sure it will help you with your...discomfort." Furara presented her suggestion.

I have to say, it wasn't a bad idea. But, the real problem is…

"It would be great if ya don't steal from my plate."

"No I won't."

"Yes you will."

"No I won't."

"Just admit it. You will do it."

"...maybe a little bit." she finally admitted while finger twiddling.

"I knew it, you never change that habit of yours." I hid in the blankets.

She wanted to say something but she left the room instead. I waited for someone to come. But, thankfully, no one came to disturb me. I stayed in my bed.

"Oh, I forgot my manga." I decided to read the only manga in this world (at least from what I know) that I once finished a hundred times.
