Better alone than in bad company.

I remember as soon as we left, Brian whistled for a taxi. We got in and he politely asked him to take us to the airport. I asked him. He didn't answer. He spent the whole trip looking out the window.

"And the suitcases?"

"Don't worry about that. They are there. Dash took them."

"Did you know what was going to happen?" I said angrily.

"No. Whether the Embassy happened or not, Dash wants us in one place and I have asked for two days for both of us."

"You're not...?"

"No, Stella."

He breathed heavily and continued to stare at the window.

"Do you trust Dash?" I asked.

"She has given me no reason to the contrary."

He closed the conversation.

I knew what I was thinking: Not like your friends.

I pondered the tone of the sentence.

Nor had my siblings given any reason to the contrary until today. That, coupled with Lydia and Hypatia, had an impact on my trust in Brian.
