SIXTEEN

"I think it's high time we got divorced." The words were said calmly in a way that made one think Jody was actually saying More tea please.

Except they weren't in a dining room or in a cafe. Jody sat opposite from Steve in his study. The room was pale with an ash color that had made Jody cringe as soon as she walked in. She met his eyes and saw it turn to steel at her words.

"You should be glad that you are ill or I'd shake you back to your senses." The words were coated with ice, enough ice to quench the fire in hell. "If you think that I'd give you the liberty to begin the business of prostitution, then you've got another thing coming."

That fired her up. She jerked up to her feet pushing the chair back. "And if you think you are amusing me by continuing your part in the story of the saint trying to save the sinner, you have got another thing coming." She yelled.

Her words echoed in the room making sure they both knew that those words had actually been spoken.
