Awkward

Valentina's POV

"Soooooo," i dragged out awkwardly. I rubbed my neck hard, not sure what to even say. We don't like each other that's for sure, and yet i helped her.

Now here she is wrapped around my barth towels, dripping water on my floor.

"Can i borrow some clothes.....please?" Taylor asked quietly.

I got up, grateful i didn't say anything. I opened my drawer and pulled out a pair of jeans and a plain blue short sleeve shirt.

I wasn't sure if they would fit her, but i didn't seem to matter, as she took them quickly from my hands fast.

"Thanks." she mumbled as she closed the bathroom door..

My mouth could still not form any words as i looked at the closed door. What was going to happen next? I wasn't quiet sure.

I decided to use my dad's bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. i was pretty sure i looked like a wreck. I didn't even take off any of my makeup i wore to the bowling alley.

After i was finished, i didn't wanna go back to my room. Taylor was probably done changing already and i do not know the right words to say.

I tiptoed slowly to my room, trying to see if i could avoid Taylor to get some of my clothes on my own.

A thought popped into my head, and i groaned.

Taylor is going to need a ride. I was the one who brought her here. Damn it!

It didn't seem right, I'm pretty sure i did the right thing, but i feel so awkward right now.

The rest of the way to my room, i walked normally. i was going to have to face her eventually. When i got to my room, i noticed Taylor sitting on the bed starring at her phone.

i was wondering what could she be thinking. Possibly the same things as me?

Her screen was pitch black and she seemed lost in it. When i approached her she didn't even look up.

I closed my room door for a little privacy and sat down on the bed next to her.

"Hey, um, thanks for making up the bed." i told her nervously.

"No problem." she responded slowly. Her head didn't look up to acknowledge me still.

I stared at her, as she looked at her phone. Her hair was damp, making it curly, but still reaching past her shoulders.

The blue shirt i gave her had a few water patches on them, but the jeans filled her body up nicely.

"So, i guess i should take you home now?" i said. This was too weird and it seemed to get more weird with each passing second.

Taylor didn't say anything. She looked at the wall and then looked out my bedroom window.

"Why?" she asked.

"Why what?" i asked back, secretly i knew why, but i just wanted to say it all out loud.

"Why did you ask me if i wanted a ride?" She shifted her body away from me, her hair was hiding her face.

i looked away, kind of ashamed of what i was about to say.

"Honestly.....i didn't even know it was you. If i did, i wouldn't have stopped. But i did, i couldn't turn back, it would just seem wrong." i rambled.

Taylor turned her face to look at me for a second, and she turned back around.

She didn't say a word after a minute so i continued.

"i noticed that you were shivering, and walking. Then when i saw you, you were bleeding. It almost looked like you got into a fight. You ended up falling asleep before you could tell me where you lived. So i brought you here."

i looked away from Taylor feeling very heated inside.

We didn't speak for a minute and the sound of Taylor's stomach brought back my attention.

"Why don't we go to the kitchen? There's plenty of food, my dad loves cooking Spanish food a lot." i told her.

i got off the bed and watch her and see if she does the same.

She's still sitting as if she's in a world of her own, and says "that's right, i heard you were Spanish ….but cant speak much right?"

I nodded my head in annoyance, "Yep, that's right."

Taylor gave me a small smile and stood up. "I could it." She places her hand on her stomach and gives another smile.

"Let me change real quick and I'll meet you in the kitchen. If you keep going straight you cant miss it."

She opens the bedroom door and walks out, making me catch a whiff of the sweet vanilla butter she put on.

Why did she walk home when she was with so many people who had cars?

I didn't wanna pry, but how did she get the bruise on her face as well? The blood was fresh, it looked like she got cut with something really deep.

I thought about not asking, however, i really wanted. I made my way to the kitchen. I made my way to the kitchen with a simple grey mini dress on.

Taylor was warming something in the microwave. I steeped in the kitchen seeing Taylor's back turn watching the microwave.

I sat down at the kitchen table and watched her. Yes i was hungry too, but i wanted at least a few answers.

"Taylor?"

She turned and looked at me. "Yes."

"I don't wanna be all up in your business. However...we don't like each other and you're in my house. So, i just wanted to know why you were walking by yourself? It was freezing last night, and you didn't even have a coat."

She crossed her arms and stared at the floor. For a quick second, i thought i saw her eyes water up.

"Blake and i are over. I rode with Blake heading to the bowling alley, but since she dumped me, she made me walk."

Taylor turned towards the microwave, her jaw was tightly clenched and her hands twitched nervously.

Hearing her say that, made me think of the day she confronted me in the bathroom.

"For the record, i really didn't know Blake had a girlfriend." i told her in confidence.

Taylor uncrossed her arms and came to sit across from me at the table. "I know." she sighed.

"Its just that.... i always get blamed when Blake finds someone else and takes an interest," she laid her head down, staring in the direction of the microwave.

"Blamed for what?' i raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Not being good enough."

The microwave went off and Taylor went to get the food out. She found the fork in the dishwasher and came to join me.

"Wait, so who exactly is blaming you?"

Taylor stares at me with a slight cringe face. "Blake blames me. She says i don't spark her interest enough, and that's why she cheats."

Taylor stares her bowl of oatmeal slowly and looks away.

I was trying to process this information that she is telling me.

That means Brian was right. This must have been what Macy tried to warn me about.

Thinking about Macy made me think of something important i kept forgetting to ask her.

"That must mean Brian was right all along." i said to myself.

"But why?" i asked Taylor. "i don't understand why she would dump you or even cheat. She can have almost everyone with her looks alone and she's so popular."

i wasn't sure if i believed everything Taylor was saying, however, Blake seemed to be more of a jerk, the more i got to really know her.

"Blake likes getting straight girls to be interested in her. She likes the challenge. Everyone usually says they are straight until they meet someone of the same sex and start to fall in love," Taylor said bitterly.

She was still stirring her oatmeal, not even bothering to take a bite.

i could hear her stomach growl from where i was sitting and yet she wasn't eating. "Is that what happened to you?" i asked curiously.

Maybe we could be friends, after all, i wondered.

Taylor nodded her head and gave a quick sad smile. "Yea, actually i was the new kid and Blake showed me around."

She paused and bit her lips her eyes became watery.

"I thought i was falling in love, our relationship was really great for the first 5 months...but she's--"

Taylor paused and took a bite of her oatmeal. She was chewing it super slowly, almost as if she was trying to avoid the conversation at this point.

Her forehead slightly moved as she ate, making the bruise stand out just a little longer. i was so curious to what she was going to say next.

My mind thought about Zane, was she just the same jerk as her sister? Probably so.

"She's what?" i asked.

Taylor shook her head, showing that she didn't want to talk anymore.

I noticed her bruise looked familiar. It looked like the same one Macy got on my first days of school.

"Blake did that to you?!?" i asked in shock. I felt all types of emotions run through me.

Taylor quickly shook her head NO, fear showing in her eyes.

She could deny it all she wanted to, but i remember when Macy tried to warn me about Blake in the locker room and Blake showed up....then came lunch time and Macy was bruised up.

"Oh my gosh, you cant say anything.....please! They will kill me, you have no idea how much power they have, please! please! please! I've said too much!"

Taylor got out of the chair, leaving the oatmeal on the table, she headed towards the door frantically.

i rushed in front of her, and tried to stop her. "I wont tell anyone, don't worry!" I respond seeing how scared she looked. i noticed she used the word they. Who was she referring to?

Her eyes are darting side to side, looking for a way to leave.

"I can take you home, just wait! Don't leave! Calm down please!" i push her slightly at her waist, making her back up a little. Tears are slowly falling from her eyes slowly now, and I'm starting to get worried about myself now.

Blake seemed to be taking and interest in me. What if this happens to me?

i pushed that thought away and focused on Taylor. She had walked back to the table and was now crying in her hands.

I didn't have a good feeling about this.
