Chapter 31 News reaches Carmella

Carmella was in her room with Lucy while eating their dinner when they heard a knock from the window. Carmella had a mansion in Golem city and this was mostly used by her and certain close associates in her mercenary team. Knowing it was her Shadow guard she moved towards the window and opened it to allow him to enter the room. "What is it uncle Gerald" asked Carmella. Gerald has been her guard since she was a child so she held a close relationship with him. "Young miss the kid you asked me to keep an eye on, he was approached by Rutherford's man Bernard around 8 p.m. According to the guard whom I had tasked to spy on the kid, he and Bernard along with two other lackeys of Bernard were inside the VIP room. Though the guard did not know what they talked about around 40 minutes later Bernard and his two lackeys collapsed on the floor while the boy walked out of the room unscathed wearing a weird mask on his face.

"What!!" Exclaimed both Carmella and Lucy. "Bernard is dead? How did that happen?" they asked simultaneously. Gerald said "The guard said that he did not understand what had happened. They were alive and talking one moment but collapsed in the next second. Should I bring that boy here young miss?". "Uncle Gerald please bring him here as soon as possible. We need to know what had happened before the news reaches Rutherford" said Carmella while Lucy nodded her head.

"Understood Young miss" said Gerald as he moved to the window and went out. Once he went out of the window, he jumped on a tree and moved at high speed towards Sapphire restaurant and arrived there within 5 minutes. He called the guard who was keeping an eye out on Sean and asked him to bring Sean to Carmella's mansion and returned back in the direction of the mansion. Sean was currently sleeping when he felt someone approaching his door and woke up. He had a pistol in his hand aiming towards the door while his other hand reached for the window to open it. Sean soon heard heard the sound of knocking on his door. "Who is it" asked Sean while still aiming his gun at the door while his back near the open window ready to jump. "Sean Walker, Young Miss Carmella has ordered to get you to come to her mansion".

Hearing this Sean knew that Carmella found out about his little handiwork probably from the spy whom she set to observe him. Sean said "Give me five minutes to get dressed" as he closed the window and quickly got dressed in a black t-shirt and a black camouflage pant and opened the door to go out. Outside the door Sean saw a guy dressed in tight black robe and having an average looking face with black hair and a scar near his chin and knew that he was the guy who generally kept a look on him. Sean discovered his presence as early as from the day he met Carmella at the Academy Cafeteria after all surveillance and counter surveillance are fundamentals for any CIA agent and the people in this world need to improve their surveillance skill as all they do is to hide their Qi and follow the target or jump from tree to tree.

Soon Sean and the guard arrived at the mansion which is towards the inner region of the city where the people from big clans reside, and entered through the gate. Sean looked around the mansion and found a beautiful fountain made out of sandstone while running in magic circuit right in the middle of the land and the surrounding was filled with plants having different colourful flowers. 'Damn this mansion alone is as big as our family headquarters. Is this the difference between a small and a medium level clan' thought Sean. The guard brought him towards the main door and knocked on it. An old man dressed in black robe appeared at the door and allowed Sean inside while saying 'Young Mistress was expecting you' while the man who came with Sean went away. Sean followed the old man who was clearly the butler of this mansion. Sean looked around within the mansion as they went towards the circular staircase towards the top floor. The interior design of the mansion was exquisite that suggested the touch of a person who had great taste.

The old man brought Sean towards a door and proceeded to knock on it. They soon heard the sound of Lucy asking them to come in. The old man opened the door and let Sean enter the room which looked like a study hall as there were many books in bookshelf and there were at least seven sets of sofas which indicated that this place generally had many visitors. Sean went inside the room and saw Lucy standing from the sofa to invite him. She was wearing a plain robe which was different from her dress she wore at the Academy. It was clear that they were going to rest when they received the news about his killing. Carmella was just sitting in a sofa near Lucy while folding her hands in the front waiting for Sean. Sean moved towards the sofa opposite of Lucy and Carmella while the door was closed by the old butler.

Without beating around the bush Carmella asked "I heard that Bernard and his lackeys were dead. How did they die? Were they killed by you?". Sean just smiled at Carmella while saying "Slow down Ms.President. I will explain what had happened". Carmella blushes slightly due to loosing her composure and said "Ahem, please continue". Sean proceeded to explain how Bernard approached him and gave him an offer to become a spy in exchange for obtaining resources. Then Sean proceeded to take out his laptop from his spacial pouch and said "I will just show you" as he proceeded to move towards Carmella and played the video he took of his murder of Bernard and his lackeys. Though Carmella and Lucy were intrigued about the machine in front of them which could play the video, they just watched the entire video in silence and saw how Bernard and his lackeys died. After watching the video they could no longer hold their curiosity as Lucy asked "What magic item is this?".

"This was something I obtained from a travelling merchant who seemed to be passing through from another kingdom. He said it was an prototype magic device used for playing videos" replied Sean while proceeding to explain before they could question about his method of killing by saying "I also obtained a dangerous gas from that same merchant and used it as a surprise attack to kill them". Sean hid about technology and pushed the blame on a non existent merchant selling magical items. Sean continued by saying "The problem now is that the room should not be opened for the next 24 hours. Though I have placed a note saying not to open the door, they could still choose to ignore it. Further there were witnesses of me entering the room. If Rutherford finds that Bernard and others were dead, the suspicion would fall on me as Bernard was there in Sapphire restaurant to recruit me. And the most important thing is that the room is filled with a deadly gas, if someone opens it the entire restaurant would become a dead zone. We need to clear them out to not only destroy the evidence of the gas but also hide the fact that Rutherford and his lackeys are dead".

Sean had expected the news of his killing to reach Carmella through the lookout guard who spied on him and expected her to call for him asking for an explanation in order to activate his next set of plans. No matter what he had to clear that restaurant before someone opened that door, otherwise it would turn into a disaster turning the entire restaurant a dead zone while becoming the number one public enemy. He had already set up an alarm sensor which connects to his smartphone and it would set off as soon as someone tries to open the door.

"Is it that dangerous?" asked Lucy while showing a worried face. "The second someone opens the door the gas will start to flow outside and spread within the restaurant in minutes and if the people in the restaurant does not escape it would soon become a one sided massacre. "Do you have any plan, If so,quickly state it. We will use my resources to quickly move the people out of the restaurant" said Carmella.

"During my time staying in the restaurant I checked the lobby register to see the number of guests staying in the VIP suits and found all fifteen VIP suits to be occupied. I had done a basic surveillance on these guests and found none to be too strong. They are either students from clans or are merchants who were in the city. We will attack the restaurant from the outside and create chaos while masquerading our identity as bandits and have the guest run away from the restaurant and using this opportunity we will set fire to the restaurant and destroy it. It is better if we could get our hands on some explosive potions. We would need some personnel to keep the city guards away while we do this" said Sean as he had his own idea of placing C4 to destroy the structure of the building.
