Chapter 33 Sapphire restaurant goes down

Team 2 went towards the lobby where the money is generally stored and chased the waitresses along the way and had them run out of the restaurant. They soon reached the lobby desk where they found a guy hiding behind the desk whom they knew to be the cashier. A girl from team 2 moved towards the cashier by going around the desk and kicked him straight on his face and knocking him out. She lifted him and went towards the main door and threw the guy out of the restaurant.

Meanwhile team 3 moved towards the guest rooms on the left and saw the corridor was extremely noisy and chaotic as the guest ran towards the exit which was located at the back of the restaurant. "Lucky!! we don't have to engage in any combat. These idiots ran away. Sierra I will cause as much damage as I can to these rooms while you break all these lamps in the corridor. If someone tries to attack you quickly retreat back to me and don't engage in any fight" said the boy. "You too, be careful while entering these rooms. Some guest might not have ran away and some might even set up an ambush. Retreat immediately if you run into anything like that Robert" said Sierra as she ran towards the lamp which was fixed on the ceiling in the corridor and shot it with her crossbow.

Meanwhile Sean and Lucy went towards the stairs which led to the upper floor. Compared to the guest rooms on the ground floor, the corridor to the upper floor is massive and the guests did not run away as the upper floor did not have an exit and has to come through the stairs. So some guests were in the corridor with their sword drawn while others were hiding in their rooms waiting to bush the bandits.

As soon as the guests saw Sean and Lucy enter the corridor a guest with his sword drawn shouted "Damn you bandits, aren't you afraid of the wrath of the three clans which control the Golem city. How dare you act so presumptuous!! I suggest you to surrender if you don't want to" before he could finish his monologue blood splattered on the floor as he fell backwards with a hole on his head.

The guy behind him held his sword and dashed towards Sean and Lucy while activating his Qi and appeared towards Sean at rapid speed while having his sword above his head. Lucy tried to move before Sean to intercept the attack, however before he could reach Sean he was shot once in his chest and once on his head as he fell on his face with blood flowing from his body. The entire corridor was silent for a moment before a guest screamed "Aaaah demon, run!!!" and the guest wanted to enter their rooms to hide themselves. However before they could reach for the door blood started splashing all over the walls as the guests in the corridor fell down one by one with holes in their body. Within a span of 20 seconds the entire corridor grew silent as around six guests were dead on the floor while a lucky one survived with injuries and entered his room.

Lucy was stunned by the effectiveness of Sean's weapon and was genuinely interested in it. "Ms.Lucy, cover my back while I kill the rest of the guests who are hiding in the room" said Sean as he proceeded to open the first room. "Ok, you can just call me Lucy. There is no need for any formalities". said Lucy while drawing her sword and facing the corridor in case any guests tried to run.

Sean took out a shotgun from the system and proceeded to shoot the lock on the door. "Bang" a huge sound reverberated inside the corridor that Lucy almost jumped from seeing the door lock get blasted as Sean kicks the door open. The guest inside the room tried to shoot using the crossbow, but the bolt was blocked using the body of assault rifle which he switched into when he entered the room and before the guest could switch to his sword he was shot on his head.

Sean cleared the other rooms in similar manner with all the guest inside the room getting killed without any resistance. Lucy watched his back the entire time ready to cover for him the second things start to get difficult, but it proved out to be unnecessary as Sean was like a killing machine in a one-sided slaughter.

Only the room which had Bernard and his lackeys bodies remained unbreached. Sean left this room at last. In every room he had already set up a low intensity bomb along with a timer enough to destroy the room. These low intensity bombs were quite cheap and he had bought them in large quantities previously for a rainy day and today it was practically pouring. During the second half of the mission Sean had a doubt which remained in the back of his mind. During his explanation about the mission to Carmella as well as during the start of the mission he never mentioned about killing all the guests in the VIP suite. This was because he felt that Carmella and her team would be against it, after all killing Rutherford and his group was one thing but killing a bunch of innocent people was another. He had in-fact not mentioned about killing the city guards or throwing explosive potions inside the restaurant to Carmella and had only mentioned about it during the start of the mission. Sean had expected some form of resistance from the mercenary team and Lucy but there was none. In fact they did not seem to be much affected even while seeing the gravely injured waitresses caused by explosive potion.

"Lucy!! why are you not surprised after seeing me kill all the guests from VIP suite, even though I did not mention anything about killing to Ms.Carmella" asked Sean while looking at her curiously. Lucy who heard this laughed a little and said "If you hadn't given the order to kill the guards or did not kill the guest in VIP suite, I would have done them myself. However you did give out the order like I expected, Sean. Killing the guards was necessary, as there was a chance of causing a scene if we had not gone for the kill. After all catching the guards is more difficult than killing them. If our stealth had broken we would have had to face the reinforcement of city guards and our mission would have failed. As for the guests in the VIP suite, they had to die no matter what. This is necessary if we want to hide the fact that Bernard and his lackeys were killed here. If, only they were dead in this entire mission we cannot fool the officials that the attack was done by a group of bandits. We need to kill as much as possible and loot as much as possible to make it seem that it was the work of the bandit. I was quite surprised that you did not mention it to Carmella because if you had done so she would have never allowed it".

"I kind of figured out that she is a kind hearted person. After all knowing the presence of so many spies she still haven't moved against Rutherford nor had she removed the spies. She is quite indecisive and as a leader she lacks ruthlessness despite being prudent" said Sean for which Lucy answered "Yeah she has always been like that since she was young. It was me who would clean up her mess by removing any witness or opponents for her behind her back. I had selected my team who would usually engage in these kinds of clean up missions this time as well. If it was the other teams then this mission would have been a failure from the very begining" said Lucy.

"Well, we only have this one room to clear. Stand at the end of the corridor leading to the stairs, after I finish this I'll come and join you. After this we will retreat as fast as possible" said Sean as he gave a gas mask for Lucy and showed her how to wear it. They have been hearing loud explosions from the ground floor for quite sometime indicating that team 3 has been throwing explosive potions inside the rooms to create as much destruction as possible. Lucy moved towards the stairs as asked by Sean who quickly wore his gas mask and proceeded to open the door. He quickly entered and closed the door and went on to set up a C4 explosive in the room. Then he proceeded to shoot the already dead Bernard and his lackeys to give them bullet wounds to mask their death while thinking 'As they say the best way to hide a dead body is among other dead bodies' as he slowly retreated towards the door. He soon exited the door and locked it once again and quickly ran towards the stairs and met up with Lucy.

Meanwhile a group of guards were rushing towards the southern part of the city towards the Sapphire restaurant as there were constant explosions from that side. Just as they entered the area where the city guards patrolling the south side should be stationed, they saw guards lying on the ground with blood. One of the city guards moved to check the pulse of the man and shook his head after finding none. They continued to move towards the source of the explosions.

Meanwhile the team which had split up met at the hallway after completing their assignments and proceeded to move out of the restaurant. They met up with team 4 and 5 who stood in the alley opposite of the restaurant and proceeded to retreat through the pre planned route. Just when they were moving out of the alley to split again into 5 groups shouts were heard as a group consisting of 24 guards ran to intercept them and started spreading out to make sure no one escaped. Just then they heard a huge chain of explosions as Sean pressed a remote controlled dead man switch shaking the ground in the process and burning the entire building in process.

Not only the guards but even the members of mercenary team were shocked after watching this scene while Sean calmly lifted his assault rifle and aimed at the guards who were spread out and started shooting.
