Stares

I yawned stretching my limbs. I slowly blinked my swollen eyes to recognize my surroundings.

I looked groggy, at the cream colored walls of my room, aka my home for last three years. Sighing to myself I sat on the bed and strolled to the bathroom to take a bath and brush my teeth.

I didn't have any classes till noon, but I didn't want to change again for that. So I decided to check my suitcases that I had with me to find what gem was hidden in them, I thought sarcastically to myself.

I opened my navy blue suitcase that once belonged to my mom, but she gave it to me when I shifted here, with tired hands and soul I opened it.

I looked through the clothes I have worn way too much, but still there were few tops that I have never seen, those I never knew existed.

I finally took out a white off-shoulder top that had a slogan of , 'Don't mess with me!'

I remember I bought it when I once went to shopping with mom, but of course it was 2 years ago when she was healthy and we used to hang out together.

I paired the top with my skinny jeans. And went to change the clothes. After changing my clothes I let my hair dry naturally in their usual brown waves.

I took out a glass and filled it with water so that it might stabilize my empty stomach till I would go out to buy something to eat.

Sighing to myself I walked to the small balcony that opened towards the football grounds, that remained empty at this time usually.

I stood in the balcony facing the grounds that was unexpectedly full with players who were either running after the ball or trying defense techniques. I saw the coach blow his whistle to gather all of them. I keenly observed them all as I had never attended any of the games due to my part time jobs.

I looked as coach divided all of them in two teams. One of them was being lead by #19, that was my guess, as he started making strategies with his team as soon as coach gave them orders.

I looked at the other team to see player #23 doing the same, so I considered both of them were captains for now.

I found myself enchanted by their techniques as I saw number 4 passing the ball gracefully to number 6. I saw the collaboration in them, but as he was going to goal in the other team's net, number 19, the captain of other team, quickly took the ball from them and started to make his way hastily to the other side.

The teams continued to play and the match ended after the coach blew up his whistle again for the second time since the match had started. I looked at the scoreboard to see that team A has won , but I didn't know which that actually was.

I was quite impressed by player number 19 who had guided his team pretty well, he had not only scored goals he has been quite a great leader as well. I was trying to figure out his face when all the boys rushed to him. So I could not figure out his face.

I was still trying to figure out his face, or his name. When I saw him going to the bleacher. So I turned away . 'Whomever it is, he plays like a pro,' Alice thought.

'Of course, he is a player of school team after all, he must have practiced a lot,' I reasoned to my own self.

I was seeing other guys now running around when I heard my phone ringing so I pressed accept without even looking at it,

I was greeted by a strange question, "Where are you?" Jason asked in a breathy voice, engrossed in my own world I responded without thinking. "Huh?"

"Where are you, Alice?" He repeated again now in a little smooth voice.

"Umm, at my balcony?" I answered him unknowingly. I saw player number 19 coming to the ground where I could see him holding a phone to his ear still not able to see him clearly I kept on staring at him.

Maybe he felt my eyes on him that he looked up instantly towards me and I heard Jason's laughter in my phone , "Enjoying the view aren't you?"

"Uh-h," I tried responding but could not find words to do so.

"What cat caught your tongue?" He asked I could tell he had a stupid smirk on his face while I saw him waving at me standing right in front of my balcony.

I instantly cut the call and ran into my room.

"Oh my God." I mumbled to myself.

"Could I be anymore stupid?" I asked myself running here and there in my small room.

I was busy crying over my stupidity when my stomach decided to tell me that I had not had any breakfast. So I decided to go to 'Pies of all flavors.'

I walked quickly from the front door so that no one might see me.

I heaved a sigh of relief when I reached the door of cafe. I entered the door after calming my heavy breath. I looked around to find Savannah anywhere, Who I luckily found at one of the tables serving. So I decided to wait for her at the counter and ordered a pie and my coffee.

"Oh wow, see who decided to grace me with her presence." Savv said hugging me tightly.

"I'm sorry, Savv, I just had a lot of things going on." I apologized hurriedly.

"No worries," she said waving her hands in air dramatically.

"Julian, I'm taking break now, take care on your own for now," she yelled on top of her lungs and took my hand to lead me at one of the empty tables in the cafe.

Once we were seated she opened her chatter box, "So tell me what's going on?" She asked cheerfully. I shook my head at her enthusiasm. "Umm, You know I used to Fight, right ?" I asked her sipping my coffee.

"You still do fight with a lot of people, like you gave Marrie a good black eye few days back, you gave David a swollen lip, when the poor kid tried to kiss you in the bar," I interrupted her from saying anything else, "Not that Savv, I know I did beat them but that was just a uh," I tried to find some word to explain myself. "It was just something they deserved." I nodded to myself satisfied with my illogical excuse. She only shook her head at that and mumbled sarcastically "of course, they did."

"Anyway, I used to street fight, right ?" I again tried. This time she nodded.

"So well, I had gotten a part time job at a gym as they offered a good amount. And the owner, Mr. Williams, asked me to train beginners there as well, when he saw me telling the players their weaknesses." I completed.

"Oh wow, that's great." She shrieked.

I put hands on my ears to prevent them from bleeding. When she finally calmed down I started to eat my pie, but this calmness only lasted for a few minutes when she again started to gush to me.

"Alice there is a very hot hunk entering the cafe," I nodded at her fan girling and continued eating.

"Oh wow, he is alone as well," she continued at which I tried tuning her out.

But she kept on gushing about him so I decided to stop her and said, "Then go get 'em girl," I faked a cheerful accent.

"But he is looking around, he is maybe looking for his girlfriend." She argued.

"Then don't look at him like a piece of meat, you are desperate to eat." She had a dreamy look on her face when she replied, "that I really want, he is really hot." she again said.

I tuned her out again.

"Alicia," she shouted at me in high pitch which I'm sure attracted a lot of people so I hurriedly put a hand over her mouth, "shut up, Savv,"

"Uhh, lut- aa- ho-" she tried to say something. "Huh?" I looked at her suspiciously. Her eyes motioned towards my hand on her face so I quickly removed it. "Umm, sorry." I said embarrassed.

" I said look at him, " she said again. "Oh my God and I think he is coming this way!" she whispered yelled at me.

I slowly turned around to face the guy only to see Him again.

'Man, I'm doomed' Alice mumbled to me at which I agreed to her.
