Friends or Foes
Roaming around the street for almost an hour Emily could feel the worm's in her stomach already eating up her intestine , on reaching a local bakery store which was already open at such early hour standing there she savored all the scent coming from the freshly made bread
" got caught " a voice invaded her thoughts from behind turning back she saw the girl she asked for help earlier
" no.. I mean yes " she said feeling shy " but didn't tell on you " she said finally looking up
" Am Lora " the girl said stretching forth her hand towards Emily
" Emily " Emily replied shaking hand with her
" Friends " Lora asked plainly
" sure friends " Emily replied beaming up with happiness she was happy she wasn't alone anymore she could now share her feeling with someone
" I knew you would accept my offer " Lora said walking into the bakery they got two loaves and two yogurt and left the bakery
" since when have you been in the street? " Emily asked curiously
" since 7 I guess " Lora replied with a mouth full of bread
" how did you get here I mean on the street ?" Emily asked swallowing the bread left in her mouth and drinking some yogurt she stared at Emily speechless
" if you don't feel like we can skip it " Emily said in a hurry looking up at Lora
" lost my mom at five my dad got married again his new wife didn't like me and wanted to get rid of me a day came and my Dad went on 3 week trip me and my step mom lived in the house like cat and dog a day came and she was fed up of me and she sold me to a orphanage couldn't stay in the orphanage so I escaped from there " Lora ended
" am sorry " Emily spoke out after much silence " it fine " Lora assured
" but what about your dad didn't her come to look for you? " Emily asked confused
" actually when he arrived she told him I took her money and ran from home " Lora said plainly .
" and did he believed her ?" emily asked with curiosity in her voice
" yes he did he trusted her more than me " Lora said coldly
" am sorry I shouldn't have made you remember does things " Emily said
" it okay so what about you how did you end up in the street of S city?" Lora asked Emily
" my parents were murdered didn't want to go to the orphanage so I ran away " Emily said looking down it would be her first time to talk to anyone about herself and she felt relaxed after saying it
" sorry about that " Lora asked " planning on taking revenge for them when you grow up?" she asked Emily
" yes if the cops don't I will " she said coldly
" am totally in " Lora replied beaming with joy finishing up their breakfast they headed towards the park to have some fun on reaching there they saw some bullies bullying a guy smaller than them both couldn't stand it and decided to see what they can do Emily who was go in bad language decided to go first then Lora would go for the strikes
" hey fat pig " Emily shouted
" hey piggy am talking to you dick head " she said tapping him on the shoulder
" how dear you insult me " the guy said turning back angrily
" I didn't insult you just told you what you look like " she said moving back a little ordering his friends to chase her Emily took on her heels leaving the big one for Lora to handle
" hey you " Lora call out loud turning back confused and pointing to himself
" yes you " she said jumping down from where she stood " this is my park and everyone here play's by my rule but if you don't feel comfortable with it you can leave " she continued calmly
" you heard her " Emily added from behind him
" you can just walk away without getting hurt " she continued seeing they were both holding bat stick in their hands he became afraid and left the park running backwards
They both looked at themselves and laugh out loud helping up the boy they were bullying saying thanks he ran off
" I think we should hold on to this for a while " Emily said smiling
" I think we should it might be useful some day " Lora replied smiling as well
" did you see the look on his face when we told him to back off? " Emily asked laughing
" he looks like he was about to cry " Lora replied and they both laughed walking out of the park and talking about what just happened and laughing on several occasions they became best of and good partners
it was already afternoon and they were both hungry walking to the trash can of a restaurant they selected some they found still presentable and ok to eat going to a secluded place they ate their lunch together and chatted while doing so.
Emily was very happy it was the first time she actually talk, played and laugh like this after the death of her parents she just hope and wish it would last for long after eating lunch they rested for a while
" like to watch some movies?" Lora asked
" sure why not but we don't have a TV and we would need money for tickets if we wanted to go to the cinema " Emily replied
" actually i don't need any of those" Lora said
" what do you mean ?" Emily replied getting confused
" come with me " Lora said standing up following her they climbed and jumped different things finally they arrived
" welcome to my home " Lora said Emily was confused it was on someone's roof opening the wooden door they entered into a small room on the roof top
" you live in here ?" Emily asked surprised
" yes built it myself " Lora said sitting on a balloon chair .
" waw it beautiful " Emily exclaimed
" thanks " Lora replied
" you can move in if you want to " Lora said calmly
" really thanks " Emily said with joy on her face
" welcome " Lora replied smiling.
