I Think You'll Be Fine

Jonah made it home on Friday night in a total daze. It was a miracle he didn't crash the car or run any red lights.

Eden talked to him knowing everything. She had been understandably angry but she never said she hated him or even hurled that many insults. In fact, she may have given him the best roundabout compliment he had ever gotten.

"Your face isn't really that bad so you played me for no reason." Meaning she didn't have a problem with his scars. She wasn't lying either; he hadn't detected any of the usual reactions to his face in her expressions all night.

As the conversation progressed, she seemed more confused than angry, eventually giving up trying to understand and wanting to go home. He didn't blame her for that. Her reaction was actually much better than he expected.
