Chapter 4: The Most Bold Escape

"Stay put." The man left without leaving a single message of the woman's purpose of being here. Either way, he left a journalist alone in an area to explore. Bad choice for starters.

She stood up exploring the dim room for any books or magazines. She peered up in the shelves to seek for any secret passageways. Each novel was lined, perhaps in a particular order. Etoile stared at the novel "The Secret Garden" with her cuffed hands uncomfortably behind her back. There were no windows for her to escape. The only way was the door. It was locked dead leaving no runaway route for Etoile. She would've taken off one of her bobby pins from the back of her head and start picking into the small hole on the doorknob. However, as an experienced woman at failing and woman of bad luck at the wrong time, her handcuffed arms couldn't reach the back of her head.

"Can we run a background check?" A cold voice was heard it sounded only a few meters away. Without hesitation, Etoile tilted her head and leaned her ear on the metallic door to eavesdrop.

"We can do that, but it'll take some time to gather all the information on her, is it necessary? Can't you question her?" Another voice that was sweeter chimed through the door into the lurking girl's ears. Etoile was able to decipher the soft mumbles that were blocked by the stupid door. Hard but doable.

"If she does end up as a journalist, chances are we can get her to report on the things" Report on things! Those three key words caught Etoile's attention within a snap. There are things in this mysterious mansion that were worth reporting. Or at least the owner thought was worth reporting. Juicy events led to meaty essays, delicious. The first report on the existence of beautiful humans with animal features, then an interview of their lifestyle and finally a scientific report on how they became to be. A smirk crept up the journalist's face as she smiled like a manic. Her heart to explore exceeded her fear. Such explosive news must be reported this instant! Society must know.

"That's only if she behaves though. We all know what happened to the previous girl that got in." That same soothing voice replied to the cold one created a huge juxtaposition. Previous girl?

"There is one way to get here and that's to ride to the stop after "The Abyss" and only the afternoon train No. 98 gets there. They must be rebellious enough disregard the train manager forcing them off" It was fate that Etoile arrived at such a private area. The stations run more than 20 trains an hour. Walking back to the desk she sat considering her next steps of hijacking information from those people.

After a few minutes of waiting Etoile was more than bothered. She started to get very bored. It was just a bland room with white damask curtains. Nothing was exciting or anything worth exploration. There was no sign of life outside the door that diverged her from the outer world.

"Hello! Any soul wanna hang out with me? Perhaps let me out!" Her complaints were ignored. No one downstairs in the home office was bothered to assist a potential criminal. Without Tsuki's command, none was to touch the handles of Etoile's door. She loitered around the room, paced from the table to the bed. The thought of waiting as she grew old drove her mad. She couldn't even read one of the books on the shelf with her hands cuffed as such. Etoile laid down on the soft bed that decreased in height as her body weight pressured it. Her brain had been playing the same song over and over again. A click at the door was heard as she shot straight up waddling towards the door. The rabbit girl she saw earlier go in the library and "file room" held a bowel with chopsticks resting on top.

"Have some food" Without much to say she thanked the petite rabbit. The door was inching closer to closing. This was her chance, Etoile stuck her foot between the door and the door frame pausing it from its path of closing. The cute little rabbit-eared girl frowned at her rebellion. It was evident the rabbit wasn't made to fight, no muscle on her arms – the bowel she held seemed to wobble too – no way she'd win a door fight.

"Tsuki you overgrown chicken! Let me out, I'm bored!" Etoile screamed loud enough for the whole two floors to hear. These walls were soundproof so all the sound travelled through the small seam her foot was opening.

"Hey! Don't be rude to our commander!" The rabbit stated while struggling to push Etoile's feet out of the way to close the door.

"I'm just stating what he biologically might be, bunny!" That savage line insulted both the rabbit and Tsuki.

"DON'T call me bunny. I'm not a prey or weak! The names RB, short for Ruby." RB stood up straight, arms on hips and completely forgetting her assignment of closing the door. A frown was the cryptography of her annoyance. Heavy footsteps were heard from afar, Tsuki has come to get someone to get under control.
