Dad, You Got This

Mrs Tina, who was the personal doctor of the Willamson household, was trying to get hold of Raelyn to get her signatures on a few papers.

"Raelyn, I want your signatures here, here, and on the third page," Mrs. Tina said as she pointed at the places where Raelyn had to sign.

"Just a second, let me make a call," Raelyn said as she dialed a number and walked away to attend the call. A male nurse slowly walked towards Mrs. Tina who was looking at the medical history of Mr. Willamson and asked about the success rate of the operation.

"To be honest, he is in a critical stage and this will be a very big operation for someone his age… We have to remove the most infected parts, let's hope the outcome is favorable," Mrs. Tina said.

"He will have to digest food from the tube right?" He asked.

"Yes, stomach cancer is very hard to cure and because it was diagnosed at a severe stage in Mr. Willamson's case... we will try our best,'' Mrs. Tina said and stood up as she saw Raelyn coming her way.

"Sign here and at the bottom...here and the last one here...Thank you, so we will start the operation in about 6 to 8 hours," Mrs. Tina said to Raelyn.

"Yes… is there something else you need or something that I need to arrange for?" Raelyn asked Mrs Tina.

"Oh no, we are good to go, just have to wait and prep for the operation… Don't worry Raelyn, it will be alright, it's a simple procedure," Mrs. Tina assured Raelyn.

"It's not about the procedure, it's his age I am worried about," Raelyn said and Mrs. Tina nodded. Mrs. Tina gave the papers to the male nurse to carry them back to her office and asked Raelyn if a family member would be coming.

"Tina, you know Mr. Herold doesn't have any family left," Raelyn answered.

"What about his son?" Mrs. Tina asked.

"I have left him a message about the operation, but I am not sure whether he will join us or not '', Raelyn answered after a short while.

"What's the use of so much money when your family is not there when you need them," Mrs. Tina scoffed.

"Let's just say Mr. Herold was not exactly an easy father," Raelyn said to defend the current situation of the Williamson household.

"I know all about it, but still, Jayde should be here...Anyway I will go and do the preparations you take care of yourself as well," Mrs. Tina said while holding Raelyn's shoulder and left.

"He should be here...," Raelyn said to herself.

Her phone started ringing and it was no one but Jayde. She picked up hastily.

"Good evening Sir."

"It's morning here," Jayde said.

"Yes sir, right!"

"What's the situation right now?" asked Jayde.

"Sir your father will be going through surgery that will remove the cancer-infected parts of his stomach and a food tube will be implanted," Raelyn said.

"I understand...Is my presence needed there?" asked Jayde. Raelyn thought it was not a very appropriate question to ask.

"Sir, I think it would be appreciated by your father," Raelyn said.

"Hmm, I doubt that…When is the operation scheduled?" Jayde asked.

"It will take place in about 6 hours from now after the preparations are done," Raelyn explained the whole scenario as she sat down on a chair in the lobby of the hospital.

"I will get the latest flight to London then," Jayde said and after listening to this Raelyn's eyes lit up..

"Yes Sir, that would be great...Would you like me to book your flight to London and from there we can pick you up in your dad's private jet," Raelyn said with an uplifted voice. Jayde hesitated a bit, thinking he could book the flight on his own but ended up agreeing with Raelyn.

"Sir I will mail you the ticket in 10 mins and umm... will Mr. Dexter be traveling with you," Raelyn asked.

"No, only I will be visiting," Jayde said.

"Alright," Raelyn said as she asked her subordinate to come closer and told him to book the flight from San Diego to London.

Jayde put down the phone and stretched in his chair, he called Madilyn up and told her to postpone his meetings and other things in his schedule for a week. He called Weston after rescheduling his week's work.

"Aww, missing me already? It's only been one day since I haven't come to the office," Weston said, trying to taunt Jayde as he made him go for a forced 5 day holiday.

"Not really but, umm... I need your help," Weston got a bit serious after listening to Jayde's tone of speech. "Yeah sure whatever, you okay," Weston asked with concern in his voice.

"Yeah, I am fine. It's my Dad, he's going to get operated so I need to go to Brighton", Jayde said as he looked at a few documents which needed his immediate attention.

"Oh, your Dad! Didn't know he was sick, do you want me to come with you," Weston said.

"Oh no I just wanted you to come back to the office," Jayde said while he signed a few documents as he wanted to get things off his table before he left.

"Sure, I will come no problem. You take care huh," Weston said.

"Yeah don't worry about me and also if you don't mind, make a visit to my house once to see if Dex is doing alright," Jayde said as he gave a few signed documents to Madilyn to carry.

"You kidding, his dad is going away and my little man will have a house to himself, let him bring girls, throw parties and enjoy his life...Do you want me to walk in on your son and his girlfriend?" Weston tried to make things funny as he knows the relationship between Jayde and his father are not on good terms.

"Weston..."

"Yeah I'll see if he is doing alright", Weston said.

"Okay I'll talk to you later, I have to take care of a few things before I leave," Jayde said.

"Yeah sure and tell me if there is anything I can help with," Weston said and then Jayde disconnected the phone. Jayde got an email from Raelyn Gill which had a ticket attached for a flight at 3:30 pm, Jayde looked at the clock and it was 11:46 am. Jayde wrapped up the things he had to go through and completed anything that required his attention at the latest.

Jayde wanted to see Dexter before going but he would not be home until after 4 pm and if Jayde wanted to catch the flight he would have to leave around 2:40 pm.

Jayde reached home and after packing he thought of going to Dexter's school to tell him in person but it was already 2:10. Going to school and calling him out from his class didn't seem a very good idea to Jayde so he left Dexter a message on his phone instead. He got an immediate call.

"Hi, Dad... are you leaving for London?" Dexter asked in a confused manner.

"Yeah Dex, it's an urgent business meeting and I have to go there as soon as possible," Jayde tried to explain thinking that Dexter might be uncomfortable with this idea.

"Yeah, It's fine... I just wanted to fact check it that's all as it was a bit sudden," Dexter said as if it was not a big deal at all.

"Oh okay yeah... You are not in class?" Jayde asked as he was a bit baffled that Dexter just accepted that he is going to another country like cookies.

"No, I am on a break that's why I called...So you will be out for a week," Dexter asked.

"Yes that's… the plan at least, wait the cab is here... Will you be able to live on your own, I did talk to Wes..." Jayde said as he heard the cab arriving.

"Don't worry Dad, I am not a kid anymore. You go, I will be fine, no problem," Dexter said.

"Okay then, take care... I will go now," Jayde said and disconnected the phone. Jayde took his luggage and walked out of the house. The driver put the luggage in the trunk. As The Cab left for the airport, Jayde thought to himself that did Dexter think nothing of him because he just accepted that his dad was going to London as if he went there every once in a while. Jayde felt heat in his chest and he loosened his tie a bit. A weird feeling, not anxiety, not stress, but something else. He rested his head on the headrest and closed his eyes to relax.

"Dad...You got this...Everything will be alright," Jayde whispered.
