Switching Sides

Garnn and Lamar walked up and entered the World Trade Center. They opened up its singular massive crystal clear door to reveal a tall brown fuffy-haired woman in a schoolgirl uniform. She stood next to a scrawny kid with long thinning white hair.

"Which one of you is the Mind Witch?" asked Garnn.

"My bets are on the kid," said Lamar as he glanced at all the soldier's mind-controlled purple eyes.

Garnn stepped up as Bai looked over at one of the mind-controlled security guards. He commanded him to point his gun at Garnn.

Garnn spoke up, "so you're the last Mind Witch kid."

Bair turned to his sister, making her speak for him, "he is the last of his kind. What do you two Immortals want?"

"What do we want?" Garnn turned to all the soldiers with their eyes bright purple, "are you controlling all these soldiers kid?"

"Answer the question," replied the girl, her eyes slowly starting to dim from purple to grey.

Garnn glanced at all the guns pointed at him, he then turned back to Lamar and grinned.

"Lamar, step back, I got it from here."

"Really. He is the last Mind Witch. He must be strong."

"It's fine. Don't let our little moment with Demophon make you forget that we are still True Immortals. The strongest Witches in the world. No one can stop us. We are Immortal for all of time!"

"Well, you're not wrong."

Lamar slowly stepped back as his naked body cast a shadow against the glass window. He stared out at the front of the glittering golden lobby, Garnn's naked body in full view as the blue city of flames cast a light on the interior. Garnn stepped forward.

Bai raised his thin hand and lowered it feircly. All the guns pointed at Garnn fired in unison.

Ratatatatatatatatatatatatatatatat!

Splatatatatatatatatatatatatatatat!

Garnn was riddled with bullets. His body pierced and splatted across the marble floor. Brains all about, blood all about. But as quickly as he was defeated, he healed back up, and he stepped forward again.

The woman in the school uniform leaned close to Bai.

"Little brother, how are you going to defeat the True Immortal?"

"Sister... Sister... It's fine."

He raised his hand and lowered it. The guns fired off again.

Ratatatatatatatatatatatatatatatat!

Splatatatatatatatatatatatatatatat!

Garnn healed.

Bai turned to his sister, "everything will be fine. Damon will come back and bring us the Immortal Necronomicon. I trust him. He has trustworthy eyes. Now, all we have to do is hold off these Immortals and wait for his return."

"But should we really put our trust in-"

Bai quickly held up his hand. He looked at his sister's flickering purple eyes. The spell was wearing off.

"Not again..."

He touched her forehead.

Mind Spell: [Friendship]

Her eyes turned back from grey to purple. But instead of sacrificing another body part, he instead shrunk, his skin, bones, and muscles thinning with every cast of his spells.

"This body... It is falling apart..."

The guns fired off in the silence of Bai's mumbling. Garnn healed up again, his legs shaking and bleeding, his face ruddled in brains and gunk. But he would just come back to life. His immortality everlasting.

"I can do this for all of eternity, Mind Witch!"

"So can I..."

Bai commanded for one soldier to walk up to him. He then pointed to the ground and made him sit beneath him. He grasped the top of his head.

X Spell: [Sacrifice]

The soldier turned to dust as his clothes fell into a puddle of ash.

Bai pointed at Garnn.

"I don't like using this spell, but sometimes it is needed in situations like these."

X-Mind Spell: [Mind Transfer]

Thump...

Garnn fell over, his eyes going into the back of his head. On the opposite side of the room, Bai did the same, his body fell limp as his eyes rolled into the back of his head.

Lamar stepped up concerned. While Bai's sister grabbed her unconscious brother by the arms, zip-tying him and blindfolding him.

Lamar stepped up to Garnn, his confusion turning into worry.

"What just happened?" he asked looking at the pile of ash and his unconscious friend on the bloody bullet riddle ground, "is that Mind Witch a Gifted? Did he actually just transfer his mind? This is not good..."

Garnn sat up, like a vampire. His eyes were a pitch-black grey, his face a numbed look of pain like he wasn't himself like he was a totally different person. Then at the same time, Bai's body woke up, but instead of it being the well-mannered Bai, it was instead Garnn.

"Wha! Hey! Did you just! Hey! Get me out of these... Why is my body so weak!" screamed Garnn in Bai's body.

Bai in Garnn's body stepped up to Lamar, "I don't like letting others into my skin, but when I'm up against a True Immortal. Sometimes it's best to steal their body and steal their powers."

"Don't tell me... Don't tell me you just stole Garnn's body?"

"I did... But it's only temporary for ten minutes. So if you want... Mr. True Immortal. I'll allow you to leave and I can have this True Immortal for myself."

Lamar looked at the situation. The guns pointed at him. His friend captured and his body taken over. He smirked.

"Fine. Fine-fine-fine."

He looked down at the ground, at the blood and bullet-riddled marble floor. The gold-colored ceiling. He looked at Bai in Garnn's body and smirked.

"You seem to underestimate True Immortals. You see... We are Immortal... So we don't die... You can kill us as many times as you want. You can swap bodies as many times as you want. But how many sacrifices will you have to make before we make it to you? How long can you last?"

"Hehehehehehe..." Bai started giggling like a little kid, "you seem to underestimate me, my Immortal friend. I came prepared to capture Damon the Infinite Immortal. And he is stronger than you True Immortals. So what does that make you, pebbles in our path? Right sister?"

"Yes, brother," she nodded while walking up to her brother and giving him a long silver revolver.

"What is that?" asked Lamar, his feet planted in the ground because one wrong move could get him blasted away over and over again, and he hates pain.

Bai smirked, "this is a drug that combines a Mind Spell with a certain restricted chemical. It renders the mind numb for weeks on end. And eventually, it makes the person who drinks it go dumb. But since you're Immortal and you heal, it'll probably last a couple of days, which is enough for me. I expected Damon to last only a couple of hours."

Lamar held out his hand. His friend in the grasp of the enemy. With something that could render him immobile, basically dead. Lamar put the situation in his head. He didn't act dumb, but he acted smart. He analyzed what to do and where to go. He then thought upon a way to kill Bai, but it would take time. Just a little bit of time. And a little bit of sacrifice. So without saying a single word Lamar sprinted full speed at Bai. But Bai raised the revolver to his head. The soldiers raised their guns. They fired.

Ratatatatatatatatatatatatatatatat!

The bullets spraying through both Bai and Lamar. Their blood mixing in the rain of gore.

Pop!

Bai shot the syringe bullet into his head. Lamar reached out. His shredded hand hitting Bai in the face, knocking him over. But it was already too late. The bullet was already inside. The drug was already in his bloodstream, flowing and healing along with him.

"Fuck!"

"Anaklisi!" screamed Bai the instant after the drug was injected

He released the spell and reverted back to his old body. Garnn went back to his. The two were now back to normal, but not fully. Lamar stood over the mind-numbed and twitching Garnn. His eyes still rolled into the back of his head, as he slowly wiggled back and forth, like he was in a constant seizure.

"Fuck-fuck-fuck! We're screwed!"

Bai's sister took off the blindfold and cut the zip-ties keeping Bai restained.

"I want to know everything. I want to know everything you know..." smirked Bai.

Lamar looked up, his face in fear, in a scared pant, "we were sent by Demophon to kill you. And if we failed... She would make us die..."

"Die? You can die? And who's Demophon?" questioned Bai confused by this paradoxical statement.

"Yes... She can kill us... She is the mother of all Immortals. The first True Immortal. The only one able to kill us."

Bai turned interested, "tell me more!"

Lamar started explaining his situation, what happened with Demophon, and how he and his three other companions were caught. He then started explaining the small details about Immortality and the secrets that Eiko and Demophon were trying to keep from the outside world.

And with every small fact and with every small sample of information, Bai started to trust Lamar more and more. So much so in fact, that they struck up a deal right then and there.

"You help me become an Immortal, and I will protect you from Demophon. Agreed?"

"Agreed!"

They shook on it as the unconscious, mind-numbed Garnn laid on the silent bullet-riddled floor.
