Not Like Him

Noah gently closed the door of the suite and felt the soft bang inside his chest. He exhaled a deep breath, soothing the pain in his heart being squeezed painfully with the fact that Jess chose to be alone with her thoughts than opened up to him.

He felt inadequate.

He walked with his hands in his pockets, his head hung low over his shoulders, feeling lost and dejected.

Lucille, who was waiting for him to come out, stopped herself when she saw his expression. She returned quietly in her seat and Noah felt terrible with how his daughter acted.

With a forced smile on his lips, he bent down and kissed her crown and whispered. "Daddy has to do some work while Aunt Jessie is taking a rest."

He felt Lucille nodding inside his embrace and he stepped back to take a seat near the front of the plane in order to avoid Lucille's curious glance.
