Chapter Thirty Eight - First Steps Forward

I had, of course, helped the Exceeds along in building up their village. There were many reasons for this.

For one, I had forced them into this reality without even sparing the chance for them to come to know the members of the Fairy Tail Guild. It had put them in a more awkward, more dangerous position, upon their arrival in this universe, and as a consequence, I owed them some small debt for making their lives worse.

For another, of course, it was easy work to help out a new community. Thanks to my time magic, I could speed up any building or repairs that needed to be done, helping to lay out the whole village in record time.

Most importantly, though - I wanted to make a good impression on Shagotte, because I wanted to make a good impression on Carla. I had, obviously, had some difficulties with that, given my lifestyle and Carla's haughty personality. Was that the truth? Was he not interested in her? Or in a relationship? If she even asked the question it felt so obvious. He was definitely not ready for a relationship! She got up from bed, taking a few deep breaths, stretching. It was late at night, but she could go out. Talk to people. Get her mind off Natsu. She walked out to find that her brother and sister were already asleep, so she let them continue to rest.

She wandered Magnolia with no particular destination in mind. She had spent years in Edolas, unable to really show her face for fear of being recognized as a member of a Dark Guild, so it was nice to be able to walk freely beneath the night sky without any concern.
