The Dreadful Past of Keiki

Keiki, Katsuke, and Tsuki are orphans. They never knew their parents.

Keiki was abandoned in a poverty-stricken area, the land was almost baren, lack of vegetation and almost like a dessert. The houses were typical sum buildings. The people there struggled every day just to survive. The dying heat was also a lot to bare. There was no smile in those people's faces, only a sad look that reminds you of the cruelty of the world, the cruelty towards the unfortunate. It was that area where she was taken care of by a Kind hearted and loving middle-aged couple. despite their dire situation, they could not refuse the innocent face of a sinless child who would have died if no one did anything. She would not be able to concur the hardships of her life before she could even try. Even though their heart desperately wanted to take in the young, almost baby child, they had second doubts. They were barely able to feed themselves and feeding another stomach was almost impossible. They would not be able to even give her a pleasant future being stuck in this slum with no hope of escaping. But any future was better than none... right?

The people of that town told them to give up on her but they were determined to keep her. To them, they should be the ones to die rather than an infant of a pure heart, untouched by the evils of the world. Not everyone is totally bad though, right? People cant be that consumed by evil. Even if some humans were engulfed in total evil, the people of those slums were not completely merciless. They also felt pity for them. They also wanted to help them in one way or another, after all, when there's a will there's a way or when there's a will there should be a way. They tried helping them with what little food they had... but Will doesn't feed people. They simply did not have enough food to spare.

3 years later when Keiki turned 4, in the year 2020, a flue spread began. It was not untreatable but there was no treatment for them. They were just left there to DIE. Hunger no longer was the only thing they had to deal with. Unable to cope with the situation, her parents died along with a lot of others. Many lives were lost in the shadows of that isolated hell. Life was hard for her at such a young age.

Food is supplied to the slum every month, this should have solved their food problem but the world isn't that simple as that. With good comes evil. Selfishness and greed is a grave sin for a reason, especially in this case. The self-centred, corrupt humans who were in charge of their food couldn't care less about them. All they wanted was money, whether through hurting others or not didn't bother them. They stole the money that was used in buying food for them, but still, a tiny portion of food was brought to them which was really insufficient.

The king was unaware of this and so things went on as it was.

5-year-old Keiki once overheard what those narrow-minded narcissists were talking about. It was about the blood money they took illegally. A sudden rage overtook her. She was pretty smart for her age to be able to understand what they were talking about. Her parents and everyone suffered because of THEM. But there was nothing she could do about it, but she did not want to give in.

She was smart for her age... but not smart enough to not go to foreign places all by herself. She attempted to escape the town through the truck that brought in food and thought of going to the king and explain what was going on in the unknown shadows. She hid in the place where the cargo was supposed to be kept. Lucky for her, there were lost of jute-sacks for her to hide in. After what seemed to her as eternity had passed, the truck stopped. Once everyone was gone, she went outside. It was some kind of a warehouse, those lazy careless fools had forgotten to lock the doors. It was evening time which meant she did not have to deal with the harsh sun. She was lost in a big city. People everywhere in their fancy clothes, walking on the streets, completely unaware of the dark side of the world. It was soon night, she had nowhere to sleep and it was very cold. She took the sacks to cover herself and slept somewhere behind the warehouse. She could see the night sky. It was starry and there was something that looked like a tail of a comet. The cold dark night was finally overcome by a serene morning, the sun's rays were slowly penetrating through the dark cloudy sky. she had food for a full day but she had to last it longer. She roamed the streets of the city, people looking at her, some even gave her money pitying her state. They thought she was a beggar. Days passes away, her food supply depleted, the little money she got was of no use as no one let her buy any food, or allow her to enter their shops. Unable to cope with hunger, she collapsed. The same fate that made her suffer so much finally showed mercy on her. A caregiver of an orphanage happened to pass by when she noticed her. She immediately took her to the orphanage and treated her.

Days past as keiki's condition got better and stable. She was a very strong girl indeed, going through something like that. It was time when the caregiver finally herd her story. Tears dripped down her face, not just because the hard past she had... but... the news she was going to receive from her.

"Keiki, dear, the place you came from... was destroyed by a meteor last week."

Keiki's face went pale. Even a crying and winning face would have been better than the motionless face she had that was drained of happiness to the last drop...

It took a long time for her to get over that fact but, she managed to pull it off. But did her inner injuries heal or not was another question for another day.

Keiki was very smart for her own good. She was able to catch up with her studies although it took a while. She also had a very strong presence. Her aura made her stand out. It was clear that she was born to be an aurfix. The other orphans envied her but they thought she deserved it. After all, the girl went through hell.

It was a starry night. The sky reminded her of the meteor that devastated her home village. and... it reminded her of the day when she got lost and got really scared. Her parents were looking for her. Her mother found her crying in the woods. Keiki was usually a brave child but this utterly frightened her, her mother sang her a lullaby that helped her calm down. " when even fate is against you..." sang Keiki with a sorrowful yet firm voice. Keiki feels very empowered when she sings that song. Incidentally, a nun happened to pass by. At first, she paid no notice of the girl but as Keiki continued, her aura grew stronger and stronger. The nun was surprised and terrified of the potential she had. The power could be used for both good and... evil. " if this power is used properly then I shall bring great and profound changes to the world, but if it falls in the hands of evil then the world will take a devastating blow" muttered the old nun to herself. The old nun listened to her song which was full of grief, sorrow and... hope. "as young as you are, how can you wield such power. could she really be a Salvator?" mumbled the old lady to herself. "may God bless you child", the old nun muttered and left without disturbing Keiki...
