Clay:

I'm gonna… share a bed with him…!?

It hit me what I had agreed to. I could barely picture it without my face feeling hot. My heart pounded against my chest. I couldn't figure out why I was so nervous about it. It didn't seem like it should be a big deal.

However, the entire time we followed the maid to the room, I could feel my heart thrashing against my chest. We walked up many flights of stairs, all the way to the top of the castle where the entire floor was a bedroom.

Damn rich people… the room was so overkill.

The bed was gigantic. Probably big enough to fit four people in it. Maybe five. There were giant purple pillars around the bed and a big canopy above the whole thing. The room had a giant window with big, purplish-pink sheets hanging on the sides. The window was big enough to fit a person through it. There was even a platform to stand on out of the window where you could look over the entire nearby town. We could even see our school from it.

"I wish you both a pleasant night." The maid said, giving us a small curtsy and closing the door behind her. Now we were alone.

We kind of looked at each other awkwardly, neither of us moving or saying anything.

"Well," Lynne said, breaking the tension. "This looks comfortable."

"Yeh," I muttered, sliding my gaze back over at the bed. At least it was big. There would be plenty of space. We wouldn't even be close to each other.

"Do you have pyjamas?" Lynne asked, sliding off his top. This was the first time I had seen him shirtless since we met. When he washed himself in the lake, I would always be busy doing something else.

He was skinny but toned. There were no bulging muscles, but at the same time, there was no excess fat. His skin was so smooth, I could tell it must be soft even from here. There was not even one blemish in sight.

It took me a moment to remember that he asked me a question. "Ahh… N-No." I stuttered, looking away from him and starting to take off my own top. I had no idea what pyjamas even were… but I couldn't focus on that right now. All I could think about was how awkward this whole situation was. Without even looking at him, I could feel his gaze on me. It made my entire body feel hot.

"Hey," Lynne started, making me shift my gaze back to him. He leaned over with a hand on his hip and twisted his neck. He was now wearing a light blue silk outfit, something very similar to what I first met him in. His lips fluttered into a gentle smirk. His eyes narrowing playfully. "Your face keeps getting all red. Are you feeling alright?" He asked. I could tell by the tone of his voice that was meant to be a tease.

"Ya. Of course. I'm fine." I responded, turning my head away from him and pressing my lips together. I pulled off my pants, keeping on a black pair of underwear that I found at the store. They were soft. I knew sleeping in my new clothes would make them all wrinkled, all the clothes I bought were too nice to sleep in. But something about standing in the room with just my underwear made me feel exposed.

Lynne flopped on the bed with a big smile. "Wow! This is as comfortable as it looks!" He exclaimed. "A waterbed just like I had at home! This is amazing!"

With a giggle, he started rolling around the bed, spreading his arms and legs to take up the whole thing. I'm not sure why my chest fluttered as I watched him do that.

Eventually, he stopped rolling around, tilting his neck back to look at me. "Well then, what are you waiting for? Come lie down!" He encouraged.

I scratched my head, seeing that he was taking up every inch of the bed. If I were to just hop in with him now, we would be way too close to each other. That would be too embarrassing! I had to do something. There's no way I could just hop in with him like that!

There was only one thing to do!

There were these big fluffy cushions lying on the bed. I grabbed as many as I could, stacking them neatly across the middle of the bed. Now, it looked like the bed was split in half, a wall of fluff sitting between the two of us. It was perfect!

Lynne looked confused at what I had just done, so I sternly pointed at him. "If you cross this line… I'll kill you!" I announced.

His eyes widened, all the colour leaving his face as I hopped into the bed, turning my back to him. I couldn't understand why he looked so deflated when I did that. It was the perfect solution. I could tell earlier that he was feeling tense and awkward, too. Now, with this fluffy wall between us, it felt like we weren't even sharing a bed at all.

I had to admit. Now that I was lying down, this bed was even more comfortable than that one in the infirmary. It felt like I was sleeping on top of the water. I sunk deep into the soft outline of the bed, one of the fluffy things I put in between Lynne and I was also at the top of the bed on my side. It served as a cushion for my head. It felt like my head was on a cloud.

I had never been so comfortable in my life. Before I even knew it, my mind was drifting off. Within a few moments of lying down on this amazing fabric, I felt so at peace that I completely forgot Lynne was even next to me. All my nervousness melted away and turned to complete bliss.

I fell fast asleep.
