“He what?” I ask Landon, not believing what I just heard. This can’t be happening. They must be pulling my leg… right?
“He’s sentenced to death,” Landon says again, looking miserable.
“But he... he showed remorse,” I say weakly.
“He admitted to having committed treason against the crown, which is punishable by death,” Chris says matter-of-factly.
“But isn’t there anything we can do to stop that?” I ask them, sending them my best puppy eyes.
I see them struggle and not soon after Landon cracks. “There may be a way,” he groans, looking away from me. “I’ll tell you but stop looking at us like that.”
I stop and beam at them before turning serious again. “Now, please tell me how we can save Drew.”
“Well, as far as I know, there is only one way to save someone from a death sentence,” Landon starts. “And that’s a Royal Pardon. But I don’t think your mother or sister are anywhere near ready to excuse Drew for what he has done.”
