The Casalyians are a noble race, maintaining the isolation their mechanical city in the sky affords them. Their abilities and wisdom exceed those of the humans.

But sixteen-year-old Creed Angelus has applied to the Council of for permission to visit with the Humans. His goal is clear and attainable, study the humans to see if his race could live with them.

Gin sat in his living room watching television as Saylor, Crystal's mother, opened the front door. Uninvited, she stormed in. "Gin!" she screamed. 


"Ahh, Saylor, nice to see you, too," Gin replied sarcastically, savoring the almost normal atmosphere of his house. 


"Doing what?" Saylor crossed her arms over her chest and tapped the floor with her foot impatiently. 


"Rescuing a friend," Gin replied calmly. 


"What!" Saylor screeched. "You know how dangerous it is to let them go off on their own. How could you be so irresponsible with her? Perhaps Sue and Crystal should not be friends anymore." 


Gin dropped his coffee cup, spilling its contents and shattering it on the floor. "You listen here. It isn't just her. My daughter is out there, too. Are you going to choose her friends now, Saylor? Perhaps you should have thought about that before you made her responsible for that child. Now get out!"
