Sue whirled around as if she had forgotten something. All color drained from her face. The realization dawned on her. "I left my dad in the garage,'' she whispered. "The smoke!" Sue darted from the concrete porch and ran to her house.
Valor, seeing his master's distress, became a human-like shape again and ran to her. "Master?"
Sue jumped, clenching her chest. "Valor, retrieve my father."
Valor nodded and sunk into the ground. His shadow slinked into the garage. The heavy smoke inside was quickly becoming unbearable. Valor immediately found the older man, hoisted him over his shoulder, and left the garage. He walked a few feet away and deposited the unconscious man on the ground.
Sue approached them out of breath.
Valor narrowed his eyes and pointed down at Gin. "You are lucky he is alive. Now give me praise." Valor lowered his head.
After Sue caught her breath, she patted his head. "Good job."
