Neevan had a hold of kind’s fur overlooking the ravine with the lush valley beside the burnt soil sandy area below them. He blinked. “what are those sounds? It sounds like an animal.”

Kind sniffed. His nose wrinkled. “Whatever it is. It smells bad, and it most certainly isn’t a normal animal. It may not even be a creature.”

Sarah glanced up at Sasha, who held her firmly in one arm. “Those sounds are not good, are they?”

“No, my child,” Sasha’s brows furrowed. “Any creature knows what they are trying to do.”

What are they trying to do?” Neevan asked.

Kind narrowed his eyes. “Intimidation. The weak ones will flee and probably get picked off.”

Neevan swallowed thickly. His brows raised. “What about those people affected by the cloud?”

“Easy pickings, I’m afraid,” said kind.

“Neevan narrowed his eyes. His voice trembled. “We can do something about right?”
