Staring at the lovely creature ahead of me, I put on my best fake smile.
"Oh, thank you. Anything else that I can help you with?"
"Well, since you're offering," She said with a - you guessed it- blank expression. "Get out of my class."
I sighed, "Seriously?"
"Yes." She said, then lifted my blue pencil case and dropped it. "Seriously." She finished with her mini arms crossed over her mini chest. The woman is small, I tell you.
"Fine. But don't go begging me to come back when you realize how much you miss me, Mrs. K." I told her with a wink, already getting up and grabbing my stuff.
"Don't worry, I won't." She said, not even looking at me, walking back towards her own desk.
"Yeah, we'll see about that."
I swung my backpack over my shoulder and got my books from the desk.
Then I felt something pulling my sleeve down. It was a hand. With long black nails and covered in blood and- nah, just kidding. It was Ella's hand. I looked down at her and she showed me a note that said 'sorry, didn't mean for it to happen', with an apologetic look.
Oh so now you want to exchange notes?
"It's alright." I said, waving a hand. "But this", I gestured between her and me, "Isn't over yet. I'll catch up with you later, love." I told her with a smile.
And leaving behind a, for some reason dumbfounded, Ella and classmates whose gazes were fixed on me as I strode across the room, I walked towards the door and exited Mrs. Kimura's class, only to hear her say:
"And don't show up tomorrow without your exercises done, Mr. Benson."
"Wouldn't dare disappoint you, would I?" I replied with a grin, standing by the threshold.
She just looked at me. Blankly.
Knowing I wasn't going to get a reply, I shut the door and kept on walking in the direction of the hallways.
Fifteen minutes till next period. Well, perfect time to beat my latest record on Subway Surfers. Even though it's old now, that crap is still addicting.
I sat on the floor in front of my locker before taking out my phone from my backpack. 3, 2, 1 go!
~~~
"Yo, Collin!" He came running towards me, along with three other guys I happen to call friends.
Yo, Kyan!
"What?" I said, putting my stuff from last period in my locker, not averting my eyes from it.
"What you did earlier was awesome, man!" He said excitedly, holding his hand up for me to high five.
"Which of the things?" I said jokingly, but I knew he was talking about Mrs. Kimura's class.
"You know, in Kimura's class, when you kept on mocking that snaky bi-"
I shut my locker harshly, making a loud noise.
"Oh, that thing. I wouldn't say I was mocking her. I just stated facts." I said, now looking at him, being very honest.
"Yeah, right." Greg scoffed. "By telling a teacher that she's being savage?" He asked rhetorically, then laughed.
The others laughed too.
"Yeah, and when you said 'am I supposed to answer or do I keep quiet?'" Justin said, making a lower voice trying to mimic my own, (pathetic attempt, if you ask me) laughing and making the others laugh along.
"You two weren't even there." I contested. "How would you know?"
"We weren't, but Kyan here told us all the details about it. The guy gets happy when you mock a person he doesn't like, can you blame him?" The last buffoon, better known as Lenny, for some reason, explained, putting an arm around Kyan's shoulders and breaking into a smile.
"Mhm, I see." I said, not amused. "But I really didn't mock her. I just used her own words against her. She should choose them more wisely." I finished, looking around. Seven minutes till P.E.. I hope this doesn't take so long.
"What about the recorded message thing? You know, "you have reached Collin's desk" and sh-"
"That was just me trying to lighten up the mood." I said, getting a tad annoyed by this pointless argument. "You could sense people's stares directed towards me from the other end of school, it was like they were half scared for me and half waiting for me to do something. So I just cracked a little joke, no biggie."
"Dang, Collin!" Greg exclaimed after letting out a sigh. "It's useless to argue with you about anything. You're so, so..." He trailed off and paused for a moment, "What's the word that I want?"
"Smart?" I suggested.
"Annoying?" Justin and Kyan said at the same time, then did a fist bump. Idiots.
"Irresistibly cute?"
We all snapped our heads at Lenny, who quickly put his hands up in defense. "Dude, I wasn't the one who said it!"
"Mhhhm..." Kyan started, narrowing his eyes at Lenny. Oh, here we go. "I always suspected there was something different about you, Lenny." Now he was prowling around him. "Now we know why you're always the one that offers to share a spare soap on the locker room... You could have told us, though. We weren't going to judge you," He put a hand on his shoulder, reassuringly. "I'm sure-"
"Dude! That's disgusting!" Lenny tried to defend himself and slapped Kyan's hand off his shoulder while the rest of us just laughed at Kyan's teasing and Lenny's stupidity for falling for it. "First of all, I just happen to always have a spare soap just in case, second..."
Lenny stopped talking as we heard giggles from the other side of the hallway. Sure enough, they came from girls that were apparently hearing our entire conversation.
"Oh, hey girls." Lenny said with a smirk, trying to act cool. He's so hopeless. "How's it going?"
"Oh, we're fine. How are you?" The shortest one said, but had her gaze fixed on me rather than Lenny.
"Yeah, we're pretty good too." Greg said, also trying to act cool, crossing his arms over his chest as the girls came over to where we were standing.
I sighed.
Four minutes now. I should get going.
"Hey, Collin."
Again, it was the shortest girl that had spoken while her friends just smiled and waved at me. Smile and wave, girls. Smile and wave. I tried to hold back my laughter as the stupid movie line crossed my mind.
Well, I guess I have to say something back to her, right?
Ugh, humans.
