Chapter Twelve.

Hailey and Jake walked into the house and stared in wonder. Honestly the two were expecting something more fascinating than what was presented in front of them. There was nothing odd about the house, it actually looked like a normal family home. There was nothing about it that said, “haunted” at all. Besides the fact that it was dusty and full of spider webs.

“I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help to notice that you actually look like my mother.” Amelia said as she turned around and looked at Hailey.

“Oh, well she must be an extremely beautiful woman.” Hailey said with a wide smile on her face.

“She was.” Amelia added.

Silence hovered amongst them as they did not know what to say. Hailey thought she was just being nice but had no idea that her mother had passed on.

“Do you mind me asking what happened?” Jake said to her.

“Jake!” Hailey said as he elbowed him gently.

“No, it’s okay. Well honestly speaking I do not know what happened to her. I just woke up one day and both my parents were dead in this very kitchen. I haven’t been back here for nearly over 10 years and not even once had I ever received a call as to what happened to them or the cops telling me that they found the person who did this.”

Suddenly, it dawned on them. The girl wasn’t just any stranger wanting to buy the house. It was Amelia. Jake and Hailey looked at each other in shock. Honestly, Jake Nearly wet his pants when he realised who it was. They both went silent for a moment and stared at her as they walked through the house.

“You mean, you’re Amelia?” Jake said to her.

“Yes. So, you’ve heard about me?”

“Well, yes but not much.” Hailey responded. “We read an article about what happened to your parents and how you disappeared. Well at least it said you disappeared. Not much was said about you besides…” Hailey stopped herself before she went even further.

“Besides the fact that I killed my own parents and one of the police officers.” Amelia finished off Hailey’s sentence for her. “As I said before, I don’t know what happened to them or the police officer. And just like everybody else who was at the scene, I watched her body get pulled into the air by…” Amelia froze, and tears started filling her eyes as she was unable to finish her sentence. It was too heavy for her to handle.

“By a demon Jake.” Jake said beneath his voices.

When Amelia mentioned how the cop died that night, Jake immediately remembered his dream when Hailey Got flung across the room.

Amelia stopped crying and stared at Jake, so did Hailey.

“H-how did you know that?”

“Okay, I think we all need to sit down and catch a breather right now.” Hailey said. Everyone calmed down for a moment and started talking about a completely different and random topic. After a while they decided to start cleaning parts of the house. Everybody agreed that they would start cleaning the top floor first before they even went downstairs.

The sun started to touch the horizon. They noticed that they had been cleaning all day without any rest or food. Not that it bothered any of them, as they seemed to all get along pretty well. Although Amelia was like 8 years older than them, she found it comfortable having them around. She usually would not speak to people because they would judge her as soon as they knew who she was, but Jake and Hailey got used to her and started knowing for who she really is. Weirdly enough, Hailey and Amelia shared a lot of likes and dislikes. They got along really well which seemed to surprise Jake as Hailey was usually shy and kept to herself.

“Guys its getting late, I think it’s about time you come home now.” Diane said as he stood and knocked at the front door. None of them could hear her, as they were all upstairs having a big conversation.

Diane knocked on the front door and it instantly swung open as it was not shut properly. She slowly walked into the house and the state of it just sent a chill down her spine.

“Guys?” she said once more as she continued to walk towards the kitchen. The yellow caution tape around the kitchen had been removed by Amelia before anyone had arrived. Thus, nothing alerted her of what she was about to see. She walked into the kitchen and was startled by what she saw. Faint blood stains covered the kitchen floor, as soon as she saw the white tape on the ground, her body functions immobilized. Her heart rate escalated quickly, and fear struck her heart.

“Excuse me, what are you doing in my house.”

“Oh my gosh!” Diane jumped in the air as Amelia had unexpectedly given her a bit of a scare.

“Hello? Lady in my house, what are you doing here?” she said to her once more.

“I’m sorry, I was looking for Jake and –.”

“Mom?” Jake interjected. “what are you doing here, we were about come back home.”

“Mom?” Amelia said as she looked at Jake.

“Yes, I’m Jakes mother.” Diane replied as she took a breather to recover from the shock.

“Oh, I’m extremely sorry, I actually thought you were a complete stranger walking into my house.” Amelia responded, “My name is Amelia, Amelia Flint” She said as she reached out for a handshake.

Diane stood there staring at her.

“You mean, you’re –.”

“The girl who killed her parents and ran off for ten years.” She said with a smile “Yes that’s me.”

“Oh, that wasn’t what I was going to say, but Uhm oh okay.” She said nervously “My name is Diane, nice to meet you. I apologise for barging into your house like that. I Knocked a couple of times and the door swung open, so I let myself in, I didn’t mean to disrespect your space like that.”

“Don’t worry about it.”

“In fact, do you want to come over for dinner?” Diane asked politely.

“That’s a wonderful idea.” Jake said.

“Yeah, we would be more than pleased to have you over.” Hailey said with a big smile on her face.

“Okay okay, I could use a nice home cooked meal for once.” She said with a smile on her face.

They all made their way up the road and back home.

“Do you want me to run you a hot bath Amelia?” Diane asked her. “You two should also get a nice warm shower, you’re all covered in dust and spider webs.”

“Y-yes thank you, that would be wonderful.” Amelia replied nervously.

After a nice long shower, everybody had a good laugh over dinner. They all seemed to get along with Amelia. She really was not the kind of person that she was portrayed as by the media and the town. In fact, there was nothing creepy about her at all. But little did they know that they were about to unlock the secrets of the under world and unleash a creature of satanic divinity, that was set to bring nothing but chaos in the world they cherish.

After their pleasant dinner Diane went upstairs to fix up one of the spare rooms for Amelia, seeing that they were all still chatting away. She didn’t want to be rude and expect Amelia to walk back home at such late hours.

“Amelia, I set up one of the rooms for you upstairs so you can spend the night.”

“Oh, I could always walk back home its literally down the road, you really don’t have to worry.” She replied.

“Don’t be silly, it’s late. I can’t expect you to walk home at this time.”

“I don’t want to feel like I’m imposing or anything.” She replied, feeling as if she was invading the families space.

“You’re not, really.” Diane said with a wide smile on her face.

“Thank you so much, I deeply appreciate this, all of you. You’ve been nothing but kind and helpful.” She replied with tears filling up her eyes.

“Don’t mention it sweety.” Diane said. “Well, good night everyone. Oh, and kids, please don’t forget to make sure that all the doors and windows are shut before you head to bed.”

“No problem mom, night.” Jake replied.

“Now, lets get back to your dream Jake.” Amelia said to him, as she grabbed a pillow from beside her and placed it on her lap.

Jake told Hailey and Amelia what happened. The both of them sat there in wonder. He continued to go on about all the other events that have been happing to Hailey as well. Amelia felt uncomfortable about what he was saying but a part of her made her feel like it was somehow connected to what she had experienced 10 years ago. The one thing that stood out though, was the voices that Jake tried to describe, although he could not replicate the exact sound, Amelia knew what he was talking about. She thought to herself that it was the same voice that she heard on the night of her parents death, but she did not bring it up because there was no way to actually prove that at the moment.

“But all of this started happening when I read the article of what happened to your parents.” Jake said. “Hailey was the first one to experience all of this between the both of us.”

“Yeah, something about a girl returning.” Hailey said.

They sat there for a moment, trying to figure out what all those messages meant, what the dreams meant but nothing seemed to make any sense until…

“What if that girl is you?” Hailey said as she looked at Amelia.

“Ha-ha, come on now” Amelia said nervously.

Jake and Hailey stared at her.

“Oh, you can’t be serious, I mean I know nothing about this.”

“Come on think about it, the only logical thing out of everything that has been happening is you. These dreams and visons have only started after we found out what happened at your house. I am not saying that you are causing them, but you are the one who has disappeared for 10 years, and I am sorry to say this but whatever killed your parents did not kill you. You even said it yourself. You saw something kill that officer right in front of you. You are the only one who has seen these things on that night of the killings. I do not think it is after you, but I think it is waiting for you.”

“Jake, I don’t know. All of this sounds ridiculous if you ask me, and I’m not even sure that this thing that were all talking about actually killed my parents. I don’t know anything.” Amelia said as she looked at both of them.

“And that’s why we’ll help you find out what happened.” Hailey said to her.

“Wait, slow down. We don’t even know what we’re facing here Hailey, it could get dangerous really quickly, for either of us.” Jake said.

“He’s right, and I don’t need to get you guys involved in my matters.”

“We’re already involved Amelia.” Hailey responded.

“Okay, this is what we're going to do. That house has not been touched for 10 years. I’m sure there is something in there that will tell us what happened to your parents and what is going on. We will start looking around the house for anything out of the ordinary tomorrow and hopefully it can lead it us to something.

They all agreed on what Jake said, and all headed to sleep.
