He craned his neck; still holding the telephone to his ears. He expected the coven not to give in easily but he never thought that they would resist until now. It's been two years since he made an attempt to convince the head mage to agree to the consecration of his lover—Selena as the princess of the kingdom but the mage always declined. It was a compelling objection but he was starting to feel irritated especially that the inauguration was still right in the corner and an appeal was still roaming around in his land that already gathered so much attention for his liking. He didn't need a messy upheaval on that day.
"The sky will guide the rightful owner to the crown. It is what the head mage precisely pronounced, my prince"
A faint shuffling noise came from the other line. He smirked, fastening the strap on his wrist "She is alive then, Madame Dorothea Throndsen?"
He knew that the old woman was listening in the other line.
Sebastian held the telephone in his hands, far from his ears; looking at the old woman wearing a white long dress, close-fitting bodice, and a flared skirt who was standing near him with her hands on her back and staring at the triangular large painting figure of three interlaced arcs lens shapes.
Kyrian put down the telephone. The old woman will definitely keep her mouth shut. She always does that, not giving a person a direct answer. It was not like he needed lame yeses and no's anyway because he was aware that the woman who was chosen to be the princess and the queen of the kingdom was alive.
Once he was fully dressed, he took the gold lighter with a skull carved on one of the front sides of the small metal beside his bedside table and left the room. On his final step on the last rung of the long stairs, the guards on the main door bowed their heads although he was a bit far from them.
He tucked his hands in his pants pocket and looked fixedly on the path that leads to the stable. His horse should've been on the front already, waiting for him but the colt was nowhere to be seen.
All of a sudden, the head servant—Cora, and a maid with blonde hair stopped in front of him and bowed. "Is there any problem, Your Highness?"
He didn't reply nor look at their faces. It was a waste of time. He was not in the mood to answer a nonsense question that was solely based on the fact that he was standing on the front porch. Not to mention the blatantly stare of the maids passing by. Maids do really sometimes pissed him off. "STOP!"
The shout of the woman coming from the far corner of the castle, chasing a black horse caught the attention of the guards and other servants passing by. Kyrian watched his personal servant run with the saddle on her hands. When Noxus, his horse, stopped, he walked towards the colt.
Seira's eyes widened as soon as she spotted Kyrian walking to the equine. She grips the saddle and girth tightly, biting her lower lip. Sweat trickled on her face as he dropped her head.
"Y-you-your Highness, I'm sorry for being late but the equine caretaker was not there and I—"
"Put the damn saddle on!" Kyrian yelled to her face.
Seira fought her shaking and walked to the colt. But the large saddle and girth were too much for her to hold, causing the girth to fall on the ground. Before she could pick the gear, a hand beat her into it and snatched the saddle on her other hand. She glanced up and saw Bella and Ms. Cora.
"Let us handle this" Bella whispered, gently shoving her to the side and peeking at the expressionless prince behind her. She slowly turned her head to her right.
"Can't you do something right?" He grabbed her already bruised arm firmly. Tears started to well up on her eyelids but she held the tears.
He gripped her arms even tighter.
"I'm really sorry, Your Highness"
She bowed her head promptly; shutting her eyes.
Kyrian looked at his servant. Then he pushed her hard to the ground. "Don't drop any meals in my chamber tonight" he ordered, climbing off on his horse. He put an inward pressure on the stirrup iron signaling the horse to run forward. It responded at once, trotting in a blur of speed, away from the palace.
Seira staggered backward as she tried to stand firmly but her legs felt quivery.
"Seira, are you okay?" Bella holds Seira's arms, noticing it turning red and the scrape on her knees.
"Resume your work, Bella. I will take care of her from here"
"I'm okay," she said, assuring Bella with a conflicting expression, looking like going to insist on staying with her.
"Let's talk later," Bella smiled before walking away.
She silently followed Ms. Cora who was already walking. Her eyebrows furrowed when the way was familiar to her, it is the way to the old woman's office if she may call it. The place where her current nightmare was thrown at her.
Cora opened her small room and entered. She turned to the door when she didn't feel any presence on her back. "What are you doing there? Come inside," she said, shaking her head.
Seira closes the door once she enters the room.
"Your family was safe and sound. They are staying with a young man named Billy and I saw them myself " Cora pulled a white envelope in the drawer. "It is their letter for you, I wanted to hand the letter to you the other day but the incident in the field happened" She left the palace to check on Seira's family, traveling to her town. She was a strict and cold old hag but she had a heart.
"Really? Thank you, thank you so much" Seira hugged Cora with tears in her eyes. It is the only news she wanted badly.
Cora glanced at Seira, upon hearing her sincere words. Adjusting her eyeglasses she stood up "Rest for today"
"Thank you Ms. Cora….. for checking my family and for the help the other night… thank you so much"
Cora nodded before closing the door. Minutes passed, and she opened the letter.
Dear Seira,
I hope you're okay there in the palace. Mary and I were safe and fine. Your friend Billy saw us in the forest and we are staying at his house. Frank and his goons were being hunted by the officers. Don't worry about us and come back to us as soon as possible. Mary was crying a lot these days because she misses you.
We will wait for you.
—Laila
She cried upon reading the letter, knowing that they're safe and with her friend. A big worry was lifted off from her chest. Clutching the letter, she cried in happiness and relief.
