The ride to the palace was silent. Silence had been her companion for a long time. She found calmness in silence but it was different this time. She can sense the hidden tension in the air.
She looked away from staring at Kyrian who had his eyes closed. His posture when they came into the town was the same—crossed arms and leaned back with his stilled facial expression. She briefly glanced at Bella who had her head on her shoulder, sleeping. A small smile appeared on her lips. At least, Bella was taking her rest. She knew how the woman needed it. And she can't deny that she, herself needed it as well from the weariness that was starting to take a toll on her body.
She diverted her attention to the window where the setting sun can be seen, slowly taking its exit and letting the darkness be in command of the sky. She sighed and leaned her head on the wall, closing her eyes but not letting herself drift into sleep. She couldn't sleep anyway as her mind was too preoccupied.
