Chapter Seventeen

Lisa's POV

He sat down near me and I rested my head on his shoulders.

"You'll be alright, I promise." He encouraged but I wasn't buying any of that.

"Alright?" I asked offended. "I'm definitely not alright."

"You'll be alright."

I smiled at him and he squeezed my hands gently. "You're beautiful." He commented.

I frowned. "No one would hear us if we're silent." I said.

"So what do you suggest I do? Play music on a dead phone?" He asked, a little bit angry.

"I'm sorry, I'm just worried." I answered.

"It might be James way of getting us killed, he was the last person in the office before we left." He said.

"Not everything is James's doing." I replied.

"If you say so."

"It's already 2 hours and we've been stuck here, I can't breathe." I reminded.

"Is someone here?" I heard a voice outside and I stood up immediately.

"Yes, we're here." I replied and the person went silent. I sat back on the floor and frowned.

"Who was that?" I asked Alex.

"It's Kassim, he'll get us out of here in no time but I won't let you go home, you're coming with me." He answered.

"I'm going home, forget about me." I replied.

"You're so stubborn, at least we're getting along, let's just help each other and get out of here." He said.

"You got me into this mess in the first place, if I had followed the stairs, I'll probably be in my bed right now sleeping peacefully."

"I'm sorry." He apologized and the light came on. "I knew it was Kassim." I stood up.

Suddenly, the lift door opened and I hurriedly came out. "I'm never using the devil's lift." I retorted.

"Devil's lift?" He asked and chuckled. "You're mean." He joked and I smiled.

"Don't you want me to give you a ride?" He asked.

"No, I'll be fine on my own." I answered.

"That's what I hate about you, you don't listen to me."

"Fine, I'll follow you home, I'll sleep on the floor and you can sleep on the bed."

"No, we can both stay on the bed."

"So you can move your hands around my body?" I asked annoyingly.

"I won't do that until we're married." He answered and we began walking outside the compound.

"Married?" I asked rhetorically. "And who told you we're getting married?"

He chuckled and opened the car door for me, I hesitated before entering. He went over to the other side and entered.

"Do you want to drive?" He asked.

I frowned. "Yes and that's if you're ready to die." I answered.

He chuckled and started the car's engine, he drove off.

"Don't you read novels? The boss always propose to his worker." He said and I laughed.

"This is not a novel and it's not a movie either, this is reality and I'll turn you down the moment you propose."

"I'm not even going to propose to you." He replied and let out a slight grin.

"Of course, you'll propose to Amanda, she's your type of lady."

"You're absolutely correct, I'm thinking of proposing to her, the wedding ring's set but I don't know how to propose to her, I've never done it before." He said shyly.

I didn't answer, I couldn't believe that I was jealous that he wanted to propose to another lady.

I didn't even realize he'd parked his car. "You should come down from the car, we're home already." He motioned and I coughed.

"I was lost in thoughts." I replied and followed him as he walked into his house.

"Where's Oliver?" I asked.

"He's doing his business with James." He answered.

"I don't understand."

"Of course you won't, they're both criminals." He said.

"Criminals?" I asked. "That's what you think." I added.

"So how should I propose to her?" He asked.

"You can just start a conversation with her, chat for a while, then just kneel down and bring the ring out from your pocket and ask her to marry you." I answered.

"No need for poems?" He asked.

"I personally hate poems, I can't imagine being compared to a moon." I answered and he chuckled.

"Thank God you told me." He said.

"But you can also read a poem to her, if she doesn't accept the ring, she's very stupid and foolish because a lady won't think twice before marrying you." I replied.

"A lady?" He asked pretending to be surprised, I could tell when he was pretending, he used to have a smirk on his face. "Does that include you?" He asked.

"Browse Google." I answered and climbed the stairs. "You have a big room, Oliver's not around, you can stay in his room." I added.

"No, I can't, I have to stay and protect you because no where is safe right now." He said.

"I'm not a girl or a baby, I can take care of myself."

"You're so stubborn, I wondered how your parents coped with you."

"I'm going to sleep," I said and reached the door of the room. 'Don't disturb me." I added.

"Won't I get a midnight kiss?" He asked.

"Call Amanda to kiss you." I answered and walked inside the room.

Alex's POV

"Of course, I would." I shouted for her to hear and walked down the stairs. I went to make sure all the doors were locked. I wondered when my dad would come back, he just left the house without a word.

I walked into the guest room and laid on the bed, I couldn't sleep, I wondered if she felt jealous when I made mention of getting married to Amanda.

My phone rang. It was my father, I smiled as I picked the call.

"Hello Dad, where are you?" I asked.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I'm taking care of a business contract with the Edwards." He answered.

"I was worried, I expected you to call me."

"Who's the girl you brought to the house? He asked and I frowned.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"I have people who monitors that house and they gives me information on everything that happens." He answered.

"Okay dad."

"Are you planning on getting married to her?" He asked.

"Of course not." I replied.

"I'll call you when I get the chance, the Edwards are here already, bye." He hurriedly cut the line.

Suddenly, I heard someone scream upstairs and my heart raced, it was definitely Lisa.

I ran out of my room and climbed the stairs, I pushed the door open and gasped.
