Chapter Twelve

Lisa's POV

I surprisingly pushed the door open, it wasn't locked. I walked in and my heart raced. The house was silent, "Alex," I called out and I heard a slight moan behind the sofa.

I quickly fell to the floor when I saw Alex groaning in pain. "Alex, who did this to you?" I asked with tears, it appeared that he was bleeding from maybe a fight. I just couldn't believe that someone could beat him up like this.

"Oli...oli...li..ver." He stammered.

I didn't answer him, his brother couldn't never do anything to hurt him. I helped him get up and took him to his room. "Will you like to go to the hospital?" I asked as I laid him on the bed.

He was able to talk now, I brought out his first aid box and looked at him. "I don't want to any hospital, I don't want the media saying anything that can ruin my chance of being the Governor of this town." He said and my eyes widened.

"Governor?" I asked surprised. "You want to be the Governor of this town, I thought you're satisfied being a billionaire."

"Look Lisa, James also wants to become the governor and that's why he'll try to kill you, he wants Oliver to kill me." He explained and I frowned.

"This doesn't make sense, your brother can't harm you, James didn't tell me of any intention to be the Governor." I replied.

"There will be a time we'll face challenges, you'll have to fight for justice," He said. "You should not trust James, he is a criminal." He added.

"Look, James stands by me, he helps me and I'm sure he loves me too, he's not a criminal, he's a responsible man." I replied. I could see his disappointed face.

How could he expect me to believe him? I wasn't crazy, James was not a criminal and he's wrong.

"James is a criminal, stay away from him."

"Why do I feel like you're jealous?" I asked and brought out a packet of cotton wool, I took a piece and cleaned his wounds with it.

"Arghhhh," He moaned. "Careful."

"I'm sorry, I want to leave now, I'm sure Oliver will take care of you when he comes back." I said and walked towards the door, I left the first aid box on the bed because he might need help.

"Please don't leave." He pleaded and I was tempted to look back but I didn't, I didn't want to help him, he was a wicked person. He was the same person who claimed my ideas and almost killed my mom. Why should I help him?

"You asshole, I said don't leave." He screamed as I took a step further. He still called me an asshole, I didn't waste anymore time, I pushed the door open and climbed down the stairs.

I met Oliver in the parlor, he was eating when I saw him, he looked at me and smiled. "I didn't know you were around." He said.

"Someone injured your elder brother, I had to come." I replied.

"Did he tell you who injured him?" He asked.

"No, he didn't," I answered. "But that shouldn't be the question, please take care of your brother."

"So you don't remember me?" He asked and I looked at him hoping I would remember but I couldn't.

"I'm sorry but I don't think I remember you."

"You really erased me from your life, I'm Oliver Parker, I lied to you about my surname, it's been five years." He reminded.

I remembered him at once, he looked different, maybe much matured and his lips were dark now, he obviously continued smoking.

"Turns out you're Alex's brother, you didn't quit smoking, did you?" I asked and he chuckled. "I remember I saved you from an accident, we started to date but I wasn't comfortable dating someone I could call my junior brother. Plus, you didn't even love me." I added.

"Yeah, I didn't, I'm actually happy you're with Alex." He said.

"I'm not with Alex, I'm not with anyone." I replied.

"I actually don't regret that we separated, it was the best idea but I'm back in your life." He said.

The memories hit me, he would always beat me up after I had done something wrong, he was also a psycho and stayed in a psychiatric hospital for over a month.

He would embarrass me in front of people and I'll cook for him in the midnight when I was supposed to be sleeping. I couldn't cope again and broke up with him.

I never loved him.

"I'm not the same Lisa you knew, I'm strong now." I replied.

"You're a weak woman Lisa and you'll always be, I'll always dominate you." He threatened.

"I studied Martial arts in China for six months, worked for a security organization for seven months, you still want to try me?" I asked with a smile.

I looked at the TV, I looked at the headline. "DEAD FEMALE BODY FOUND IN A EATERY'S RESTROOM."

I picked the remote control on the sofa and increased the volume. "The deceased has been identified as Miss Lillian Bernardo, the doctors confirmed that she was stabbed to death by an unknown person. Here are her pictures." The newscaster said.

My heart skipped a beat as I saw her pictures, it was the same lady that talked to James in the restaurant, it was Lillian. Who could have killed her?

"Thinking?" Oliver asked and I looked at him.

"No, I guess I should be on my way." I answered and dropped the remote control, I stole a glance at Oliver before leaving the house.

James's POV

"I have to deal with their mess, I don't want to have problems. I'm supposed to be portraying a good person to the people." I said loudly as I walked into my house.

"Good Afternoon." I greeted Ashley with a smile and she looked at me.

"Afternoon dear."

She was my elder sister who stood by me after our parents died and I loved her so much. My phone rang and I checked the caller's ID, it was Oliver, I picked the call immediately.

"Boss, I think Lisa suspects us and I also think James told her about you, should I kill her?" He asked.
