Forty-three: Goodnews

The baron's study

Krista's pov

I heard Louie and Tristane exited by the door. I heard the creaking of the wood and the soft clicking of the lock but my mind had not been fully functioning at what was happening. I only realized that Lucian was walking towards me. His eyes locked with mine. I gulped down. I knew that look. It was something men had when they wanted to get intimate, an emotion far too primitive for any definition.

My heart was thundering against my chest and I bet he could hear it. I found myself holding my breath as I take in the sight before me. Lucian was wearing a regular white shirt and brown trousers, his hair was combed lazily away from his face; that way he looked ancient yet modern at the same time.

"Mi amour," he whispered.

I opened my mouth but nothing came out.

"Krista?"

I blinked. He was kneeling before me now, was I too preoccupied watching his beautiful face and failed to notice his movements? Not good Krista, not good at all.
