Chapter 19

Trevon held the door open for Jamison. Emotional tension was thick between them. They stepped into the chalky moonlight, and into an endless stretch of sand. Connected, aluminum barricades towered over Trevon and Jamison.

“Bud, we need to have a serious talk when we’re off the property,” Trevon announced.

“Why when we’re off the property?” Jamison asked; his voice trembled.

They stopped at a comp tower, and Trevon tapped a code into the built-in touch screen. The ground swallowed the gate.

“We need to hurry up,” he said to Jamison. “The gate is on a timer.”

Jamison scampered ahead, and Trevon followed. They waited until the gate had secured into place, and Trevon put his head in his hands.

“Why?” He demanded. “And how? How did you get in there?”

“You already know why,” Jamison answered.

Trevon rolled his eyes skyward.

“You wanted to see an alien so badly you’d break the law?”
