"So how was your first outing?" Alesia rolled the cart of food to the coffee table. She sat on the living room rug in front of the widescreen.

"It was good. I think the experience helped me a lot," he replied. "It's amazing how many variables there can be in a simple police car chase," Darren replied. He released a groan as he sat on the cushion with a pack of ice against his neck.

"Well, you finally know you're bulletproof, which we would have discovered earlier if you weren't such a wuss," Alesia said.

"Not wanting to be shot in the face for an experiment does not make me a wuss," he said as he cradled the icepack on the inflamed bruise on his neck. "Plus, it's more like I'm bullet-resistant. One hit me in the eye; it stung."
