Day With Tora 5

Tora stopped at the door when she saw a familiar figure standing in the lobby with her teacher. "Mom?" She watched her mother hand a stacked lunchbox and thermos to Master Levi. Tora approached the two, stopping to greet her Master. She bowed with her fist clasped in her palm in front of her. "Good evening, Master."

"At ease," he replied.

Tora stood up straight. "Mom, what are yo-" She stopped and cleared her voice. She rephrased her words and altered her intonation. "Mom, I didn't know you were coming." She often spoke to her mom like a peer instead of an elder. That would not stand in front of her master, Samuel Levi.

Tora feared no one but her master. As an old fashioned man who valued discipline and respect, the manner in which his disciples act in his presence should be the same in their everyday lives. If she did anything to dishonor her master, she would be punished in accordance with the rules of the school.
