Unknown Feeling

The days flew by quickly and my Fireteam had already won two other Crucible matches after the first, giving us a 3/0 start. Wraith, Sigbrand, as well as Sigwulf never really participated in the Crucible, as they had their own reasons for going out on missions. Today, however, was different. We were summoned by the Vanguard, who had first congratulated us on our recent Crucible victories.

Zavala then went on to explain that there were sightings of large, unknown creatures on the planet Saturn, so he wanted us to investigate and report our findings. He informed us that we would be meeting up with another three man Fireteam before dismissing us and, after exiting the rather stuffy room, Wraith looked at me and said "Well, if we're going to traverse the solar system, you're going to need a ship..."

Sigwulf's eyes lit up as he blurted out "I'll have to get with Miss Holliday and help with the construction!" Sigbrand laughed heartily while Wraith shook his head and said "No, Little Wulf, Lucifer's ship is most likely built already..." Sigwulf clicked his tongue and pulled out a flask before draining it of its contents with a single gulp.

Wraith and the brothers went on their way to recharge their ships while I was sent to my own personal hangar, which is where they said my new ship would be. I watched many Guardians chatting with each other before stopping mid-sentence and staring at me with complicated expressions.

Most of the ones who gave me rather nasty looks were men, but I didn't really give a shit what anyone thought. I knew they were just jealous for some reason. I continued on down a flight of stairs before opening a large door with the number '182' etched above it.

I walked in and saw a blonde haired woman tinkering with a few gears. She turned her emerald green eyes upward and raised her brow slightly before saying "Wow. Cayde wasn't kiddin when he said you were a pretty boy!" I sighed and nodded my head before saying "Yeah, I do get that a lot these days..."

The woman laughed and stuck out her hand, saying "My name is Amanda Holliday, but you can just call me Holli if you wanna..." with a snicker. I felt a wry smile creep its way up onto my face as I shook her hand and said "Lucifer. Lucifer Blake." Amanda laughed again and hit my shoulder, saying "Lighten up will ya? I was just kiddin!"

I smiled slightly before gesturing toward the ship with my chin and asking "Is this mine?" with restrained excitement. Amanda nodded her head and said "Yep! She's one of my finest works, so make sure you take good care of her, or else I'll make you wish you were never resurrected..."

I laughed in a lighthearted manner before saying "Yeah, we'll see about that. So, what made you pick a design this...badass?" I gestured toward the sleek, pitch black ship that had two long, thin wings with multiple spikes on the edges as well as running down the middle of the ship's body. It suited my tastes almost perfectly, something Amanda was apparently familiar with.

"Well, since you always wear that spiky armor, I thought that you would like it with a bunch of spikes." I nodded my head at Amanda's explanation and muttered "Yeah, this thing is pretty cool..." earning another snicker from Amanda. We continued to talk about the ship and its various functions as well as how often it would need to be recharged with Light.

Amanda left the hangar after chatting for a while, leaving Sam and I to explore the inside of the ship. Sam popped out of my body and asked "You ready Captain?" in an almost mocking voice. I played along and said "Why of course. I am always ready for a nice voyage!" Sam shook and said "Never do that again..." with a deadpan stare.

I couldn't help but smile as Sam entered the ship before, quite literally, teleporting me inside with him. The interior was actually very cozy and rather spacious with a stove, a refrigerator, as well as a bed and television. I let out a satisfied breath before turning to Sam and asking "So...how do we get this thing moving?"

Sam rolled his eye and said "You can just leave that to me. We need to get in contact with our Fireteam first before we head out though." I nodded my head and heard a bit of static in my ear as Sam connected me with Wraith. I heard his robotic voice ask "Ah, I see you've gotten a rather...extreme ship to say the least. Well, the two idiots already left, so just get the Ghost to set the coordinates to Saturn. I'll see you there."

Sam mumbled a few things under his breath as he floated over to a console and brought up a map of the solar system before zooming in on Saturn and plotting the coordinates Zavala had sent. The ship's engines burst to life as it began to slowly hover off of the ground. The ship flew out of the hangar and steadily climbed up into the atmosphere.

I looked out of a window and saw the Earth below us in all of its glory. The clouds swarming over the beautiful landscape below filled me with such a deep admiration as I thought about how many people would never be able to see this wonderful sight. The stars soon turned into blurry white lines as we began to warp toward our destination.

I watched as the everything outside of the ship began to turn a light blue before Saturn suddenly burst into view. It's beautiful, multicolored rings slowly orbit around the planet as a storm raged across its surface. I had my mouth slightly agape in awe as I stared out at the beautiful aurora flashing around at the planets North Pole.

Sam coughed and whispered "C'mon, you're embarrassing me in front of the viewers..." I raised my brow and turned my head before asking "Viewers...?" with a confused expression. Static began to echo around the ship before a familiar voice called out, saying "Hellooo, it's me, Holli! Uh, yeah, sorry I didn't tell you later but I attached a micro camera to you when we shook hands, so your mission is being displayed to the entire City! No pressure!"

The connection was cut as faint laughter and cheering came from behind me. I looked and saw the T.V. behind me broadcasting my every move. I suppressed a sigh as I rubbed my temples before saying "Can you hurry up and get us down there...?" to Sam, who was thoroughly enjoying watching me in an uncomfortable state.

Sam squinted his eye slightly before floating over to the console once more and sending the ship hurtling down through Saturn's atmosphere. It looked like we were in the middle of a sandstorm, albeit one with lightning. Once we broke through the clouds, we saw a vast plain stretching out for as far as I could see. There was a thin layer of this orange colored fog sticking to the ground, but Sam was able to find a safe spot to land before teleporting both of us outside.

I donned my helmet before putting my hood over my head as I scanned the surrounding with my radar. I heard a rustle in the brush behind me before Wraith, Sigbrand, and Sigwulf walked out of the fog and greeted me. Wraith ignored the large see through screen being projected above Sam as he said "We've done some scouting and found nothing but fog. We do, however, think we have a lead though."

My brow raised in intrigue as I repeated "A lead, huh?" under my breath with a thoughtful expression. I nodded my head slowly before saying "Well, should we follow it, or do you think it was made to be purposefully found...?" Wraith chuckled before saying "Always the one thinking things through, huh? Well, I don't think it was purposefully put in our path since it was quite hidden from sight. Come, I'll show you."

I squinted my eyes slightly following after Wraith, never letting my guard down. After a few minutes of walking, we came across a strange structure that blended in with its natural surrounds. It was some kind of door leading to something underground, but what exactly...?

I began to think about the possibility of it being trapped, but immediately discarded that from my mind, as Zavala had said that there were large creatures spotted on Saturn, ones too big to fit in this human sized door. I held my hand out toward the door and sent a pule of Arc energy through it, hopefully disarming any traps that would have been set up, before swinging it open on its rusted hinges.

A blast of hot air rose up from the dark stairway, sending my hood billowing back. Suddenly, torches began to slowly light the way from the bottom of the staircase until they neared the entrance. It almost felt like something wanted us to come down here. I felt a hand land on my shoulder. It was Wraith. He had a reassuring smile, well as reassuring as an Exo smiling can get, as he said "Don't worry, we can kill anything that tries to attack us. We'll be fine." before taking a step down the stairs followed by Sigwulf and Sigbrand.

I shook the rising doubts from my head as I reassured myself and began to follow after them. There were many sigils and glyphs on the walls, some of Sam couldn't even translate. We had reached another door after walking for around twenty minutes, this door was actually made out the same material as the vault door back in the abandoned city.

The door was charged with Void energy and had many locks and chains that floated around, keeping the door locked but also providing a large sense of mystery. I moved in front of Wraith and examined the locks before applying a thin coat of Void energy around them and prying them apart with two Void strings attached to the thin coat of energy.

I heard Wraith release a hum of impressment, almost as if he had never thought about using that very same technique before. I shook my head and thought 'No, I must be getting too nervous or something by having a large crowd watch me, even though I usually feel fine when in the Crucible...'

I berated myself for loosing focus before placing my hand on the door, feeling the Void energy attached to it slowly seep into my hand before spreading out inside of my body. The door clicked and opened with a loud creak. I entered a large cave with a ridiculously high ceiling as well as all kinds of plant life growing around the floor and walls. The cave even had a few beams of light shining down around the place, even though there were no holes in the roof.

I began to walk around and observe the plants, looking for anything that might tell me about how long ago this place had been locked away. The plants looked healthy, but I couldn't find anything on how old they were; not even Sam could tell. I clicked my tongue and turned as I began to say "Well, I think we should look for...clues..."

My words trailed off as I saw a ray of light shining down on a group of people tied up with Darkness infused chains. It was Wraith, Sigwulf, and Sigbrand. I looked at the three in front of me and noticed that their eyes were shining completely different colors now. Sigbrand's eyes shone a deep orange, that radiated an infinite amount of wisdom, while Wraith's were a bright yellow and radiated a chilling bloodlust.

However, Sigwulf's, no, the thing impersonating Sigwulf had caught me off guard the most. Its left eye was a bright green while its right was a deep aquamarine. The three stared at me intensely as began to slowly step back while pulling Sol from my inventory.

A loud, booming laughter sounded out from the other side of the cave, feeling me with an unfamiliar feeling. I slowly turned my head as the laughter echoed around the cave, only to see six, glowing red eyes staring at me from the darkness with slit-like pupils.

I truly felt afraid looking into those dreadful eyes.

The eyes of a true monster.
