Chapter 25 : Hope for Lemons .

Meanwhile, the kids upstairs were slowly scrutinizing Fauna and Tera. They didn't really like the idea of being around them but Jewlica had already given them the go ahead.

Though she was the youngest, she was so sensitive and could read people's intentions clearly which was,the main reason they were still alive....

....There used to be a lot of kids in that orphanage, at least 250 but then they were getting adopted. Just like the other kids they were eager to leave the place but they weren't as lucky as some but were still luckier than a few. If they were about to be picked sometimes, Jewlica would constantly refuse.

At first they thought she was just being emotional about being separated from each other and would stay behind. Weeks or even days later, they'd hear something terrible happened to someone.

They even thought it was just a coincidence but it happened again and this time Jewlica screamed at the top of her lungs, she couldn't speak yet so they couldn't understand her.

Although they tried to ignore her, she kept trying to block their path, screaming and crying with all she had. In the end they stayed behind only to discover two weeks later that they're 'lucky' friends were dead.

The man that adopted them took about ten kids. He was famous for his generous donations and charity but it was revealed he was a sadistic pedophile. They were so grateful to Jewlica and realized her special gift.

So they let her assess all new people they came into contact with while they tried to distract them. It was because of this that they'd tried to escape the orphanage the day Nectar came.

Jewlica was able to construct simple sentences when she ran to them about two months ago, silently crying as they did the laundry " Take away, separate us, unlikely to survive, me scared " she said.

They were initially confused and many of the children ignored her warning, saying she was just begging for attention. The five of them however decided to give her a chance.

So for weeks, they watched as their friends were adopted....some better or worse while they did everything to be unbearable and everything a potential parent wouldn't want.

Then while the matron nagged them for being so useless that no one wanted them, Jewlica and August were trying to find anything valuable before they escaped.

Jewlica was an excellent climber, like some sort of spider while August could easily find valuable objects, plus they were the smallest in their group so wouldn't be quickly noticed.

They're plan worked.....for a while at least. But when the matron found out, she was furious. Mario had taken the first blow trying to protect June from a whip lash.

At first they were scared stiff but Nichole's anger got the best of her and she began yelling at the middle aged woman, reprimanding her for hurting Mario.

The matron got upset and tried to slap her but that was a mistake for all of them. The children knew just how much Nathaniel loved his twin sister and wouldn't let any harm come to her if possible.

Though they had the same beautiful face since they were siblings, Nathaniel's usual lazy lighthearted expression turned grim with rage as he attacked the woman, stomping her feet and pulling her hair out.

It was turning into complete chaos and soon the workers were called to 'control' them. So they ran in different directions passing the sac of silver coins among themselves.

The plan was for whoever could get out of the building to simply escape. They weren't dumb enough to think their plan was full proof and no one would get hurt but all they could was hope.

Jewlica was the last person with the sac as they'd caught everyone else. Jewlica however refused to leave them and instead threw the money away. The matron was now more than furious as the workers eventually caught her back.

They were powerless to stop or at least help her since they were being held down. All they could do was try and drown out Jewlica's screams.

Then the matron suddenly stopped and keeled over. They looked over timidly to Nectar and Liam who had just come in. Liam did look a bit scary though but Nectar had managed to calm him down.

The matron had gotten to her feet still a bit breathless and started yelling in Nectar's face. Nectar reacted so quickly they didn't know what she'd done. But the matron was now unconscious with a broken bleeding jaw.

Nectar seemed so serious and scary...they didn't want to go with her. But she simply floated them out. It was truly amazing but they were to scared to care as they looked back and saw Liam grabbing the workers by the collar. [ Maybe it would have been better there ]....

...But now, they were glad to be wrong. At first they were scared senseless when they found out she was the empress, but she seemed so friendly, they found her approachable.

They'd never had names before so it was exciting. There were many citizens of Lishflour and over the decades, the royal government had decided to use something else. So there was a ranking system.

Royal Family : Have many names but nothing less than three.

Noble : Are allowed to have two names, first name and last name.

Knights, Butlers and House mistresses : Are allowed one name and a title of their choice.

Commoner : Only one name and a one of a kind serial number for easy identification.

Servant : A serial number given in accordance to personal rank and master's rank.

Barrels : Lived like slaves and we're not usually given numbers but could have tattoos of different shapes, colors and sizes to tell origin.

It felt nice to have a name and for that they were grateful. Jewlica had clapped her hands excitedly which meant she approved of something. At first it was a bid odd not being yelled at for making mistakes and they could eat and talk !!!! [ It was a dream come true ]

They still slept in the same room for two weeks before moving to the new rooms on Nectar's wing of the floor. Nectar was nice to them and the only thing she seemed to want from them was happiness and laughter ( not in a creepy way of course ).

So they quickly adapted, just like when life threw them rocks, they built houses but now they were given lemons, so why not make lemonade.
