Chapter 85 : May I have this dance ?
Nectar smiled warmly towards the three, " Your sweets are so good Sister, I have to fight just to get some ". Athena only nodded and Reli laced hands with Nectar, trying her best to speak sweetly " My dear Sister Empress ".
Nectar sighed, " Tell me what you want ". Reli pouted, snuggling closer to her black coat " Can't I hold my Sister anymore "? Nectar laughed, raising an eyebrow " So you don't want something "?
Reli scratched her face lightly, " Well, there is something ". Nectar nodded, " What is it "? Reli waved at Athena, " First Lady Athena here was curious about the flowers on our clothes so I decided, Hey let's ask sister Empress ".
Athena fiddled with her fingers, expecting Nectar to make some sort of snark comment [ What did I get myself into? ] " Maybe later. You seem very busy ". She nodded and turned to leave when Nectar reached for her.
She flinched, closing her eyes tightly but she didn't feel any pain, opening her eyes she felt something cold in her hair. Picking it out, she looked at the cute five petals that seemed like it was breathing, cupping up and flattening out.
Nectar put her finger on it, " This is called a daffodil. They can come in many colors but their common color is yellow. They bloom around winter but are almost impervious to the cold. Just like you, they're as bright as sunshine ".
Athena felt herself blush [ I'm supposed to hate her, why is my heart skipping a beat? ] " Really "? Nectar nodded closing Athena's hand over the ice flower " Really ". Nectar taught her how to infuse mana into it, making it look like sunlight was trapped in it as it moved around.
Nectar told her more facts about flowers, Melanie flattered them while Reli acted like a spoilt brat. They didn't even know the music had begun and people were getting pulled to the dance floor.
Nectar saw Eros from the corner of her eye and assumed he was here for Athena but he reached out for her [ Crap, you can't ruin all my hard work!! My life will be so much easier if she left me alone ]
She reached out for Athena's wrist who was facing her so Eros caught Athena's wrist instead. Athena seemed pleasantly surprised as she turned to Nectar with a smile, " If Sister Empress could excuse me ".
Nectar smiled, pushing her closer to a baffled Eros " Of course Sister, it's your big night. Go steal the spotlight ". [ And keep Eros away from me ] Athena was shocked by her response but happily dragged Eros to the dance floor.
Melanie felt confused as she looked at the two disappearing into the crowded dance floor, " If I may be so bold your majesty ". Nectar nodded and she went on, " I do not understand, His majesty was obviously reaching for you. Why give Sister Athena the advantage "? Nectar felt her face twitch [ She's quite observant and bold at that....No wonder she had the guts to elope with one of the palace eunuchs ]
Nectar shrugged, looking over at Athena who had already began gliding with Eros " They are obviously in love, why would I meddle. I'd prefer a friend than a love rival ". [ Especially since I'm not in love with him ]
Melanie didn't get to ask anymore questions as Dimitri appeared out of nowhere and asked for a dance. Reli was putting a bunch of finger foods in her mouth [ Doesn't matter, Cookie will make me do more exercises tomorrow ]
" May I have this dance "? Reli looked up at Dodwen and swallowed the warm pastry, " You want to dance with me "? Dodwen nodded and Reli wiped off her oily hand, wagging it at him " I haven't danced in a long time so I'm a little rusty ".
Dodwen took her hand and smiled, " Then I'll just have to loosen you out ". Nectar leaned on a pillar watching everyone dance [ Reminds me of high school prom. I wonder how Conrad's doing now? ]
She felt a little tap on her head and looked up at Liam, " Glad to see you haven't frozen the roof off ". Nectar laughed, rubbing the spot " Glad you decided to show up ".
" Why aren't you dancing "? Nectar shook her head " I don't remember how and besides I'm too stiff ". Liam laughed, holding out his hand " Then I'll just teach you ". Nectar sighed, putting her hand in his " Do I really have to "? Liam dragged her closer and smirked, " Of course, can't let you be a bumbling fool all on you're own ". With that, he dragged her to the dance floor.

Luscious smiled mischievously as he looked at Fay, " Would you dance with me Fay "? Fay frowned, " Wipe off that silly smile, it makes me want to cringe ". Luscious laughed, holding out his hand " Come on now ".
Reluctantly, she gave him her hand and they went to the dance floor. They timed it right so not too long after, they changed partners. He'd heard Nectar say she wasn't a good dancer and he needed to get back at her for what happened earlier.
He let go of Fay as he set his sights on Nectar who seemed confused about the sudden change as people moved about. Luscious had a smug smile on his face but he couldn't get to her in time.
Nova caught his hand and had a bright smile, " Let's go dance Luscious ". Luscious didn't get to protest as he was pulled into the crowd by her.
He glanced at Nectar who smirked and waved at him. She vanished into the crowd and he felt his vein bulge as his grip tightened around Nova's waist [ I can't believe she played me!!! ]
