I was in the library reading alone when I felt someone grab a seat in front of me. Typical of me to not look up to see who it is. Like I care.
"Pst."
Ignore it, Gee,
"Pst."
That nincompoop will go, just ignore
"Hey Genevieve, hey!"
Ughhh! The fuck does this boy need?! I then look at him and I really know who it is, so I just give him a 'fuck-off' face. Then when I know he gets the hint I change back to one of my nerdy expressions.
"H-Hiro, w-what are y-you doing here?" I stutter and whisper at the same time.
He just then give me an amused smirk. He knows that I can't blow my cover and I know he's doing that right now. What a nincompoop.
"You know you always amuse me, Gene." 'How can you even pull that off?' Would be his next line after that. And I just rolled my eyes and pretend to give him his notebook which I wrote the notes in. Quietly hiding the fact that I'm giving him the finger. In which he laughs.
This is how we put it up. Me being the nerd and him being the jock slash the player slash my bully that will always pester me. But it's just a cover-up for school. In reality, he's my sweet and caring friend. And we kinda live in the same house because of what happened with my parents.
He senses that I was thinking of my family again so he snatches the book I was reading, well I was pretending to read.
Like how do even nerds do this? This stuff is so boring.
"G-give it back," I whisper and held my head down.
"Oooh, Is Miss Little Nerdy angry?" He said pretending to taunt me. Bitch.
"P-please Hiro, g-give it back," I try saying it again but with a little louder voice this time but not enough to get thrown out of the library.
I was about to get out of my sit and get the book when I hear a smack and Hiro's wincing in pain. When I look up, Shaun is already looking at me and I feel uneasy with his stare.
"P-please g-give me back my b-book," I stutter again with my head down. You know when you see someone stuttering, it'll annoy you so much. But think of the one doing that, it's also annoying as that.
When I look at Shaun again he still has his eyes on me. Then I hear a growl in the back of my mind.
What was that about?
Don't sweat it, you're just imagining things, says my consciousness in which I agree.
Going back to reality, my book is being handed to me and I take it and hurriedly put my things in my backpack and leave pretending to be scared and not looking at the two. Welp, this is my daily life ladies and gentlemen. Always pretending.
I scurried over the exit of the library and with skills, I open the door even though my hands are full of books. I was about to run but as stupid as it sounds I bump into a wall and then prepared my butt for a painful landing, closing my eyes and all that. But nothing came. All I feel is hands around me and the heat radiating from that body. I felt him steady me and I was just looking at our feet the whole time.
Being me, I had mastered the part where nerds never look at the face of others and always held their heads down. Luckily I never get a stiff neck.
As I feel the man let go of me, yep I know he's a man otherwise he won't have that hard chest in which I thought was a wall, I bow my head and thank him then I say sorry and run away.
"Uhmmm, Damian?" The last thing heard was a voice that maybe from one of his friends.
Ughh, isn't being a nerd great?
One more subject to go.

I am sitting down on the sofa and eating my chips when I feel someone sit beside me.
"You know Gee, you could always stay as a nerd even when we're home." Hiro nudge me while taking some chips away.
"Hey, you filthy nincompoop! Those chips don't belong to your filthy mouth!" I yell as I try to protect my bag of precious chips.
Those poor things, they've suffered too much on Hiro's breath.
But honestly, he doesn't have that bad of a breath. It's the opposite if I may say so myself but I won't boost his ego. We all know where will that lead to.
"Hey kids easy with the junk food, dinner's ready! It's spaghetti and meatballs!" Aunt Becca calls. Hiro looks at me and I did the same to him.
"First one there will get the losers meatballs!" We both yell as we dash through the kitchen. We almost trip Uncle Lucas and almost spill the bowl of spaghetti on ourselves if it's not that damn reflex uncle got.
"Oops, easy there rascals! We don't starve you for you to act like one." He chuckles and I giggle myself.
"Can't really blame me, aunt's cooking is the one to blame." I shrug and pull my seat. They are not really related to me but our family is this close that's why I always call them aunt and uncle.
"Silly girl, if you could've helped me it'll be more delicious," she smiles at me. She's one of the most caring people in the world. They always make me feel like I belong here. And I'm really thankful for that.
'Next time auntie, but right now I need these meatballs inside of my mouth!" I grin as I pick a meatball from my plate only to be snatch by a filthy mouth. My jaw drops and glare at him.
He pulls the innocent look and looks at me, "For the record, I win," which causes me to make frustrated sounds. The three laughs and dinner went like that us talking about school and making fun of each other.
It's been months now, I wonder what are my parents doing right now.

I took a bath and now in my pj's. I pick my sketchbook and continue to draw the eyes that haunt my dreams. Those golden eyes that melt my heart. As I stare at it I feel dizzy again. I may need some rest right now. Maybe tomorrow it'll be better.
