Where am I?

The second time she woke up Mo Chou Lian could feel gaining back strength in her body and she slowly opened her eyes. She saw the room was dark with not much light for which her eyes took some time to adjust to her surrounding. She looked around the room to see that the room was lighted by something she has never seen before. 'Was that Wood?!', Chou Lian thought seeing the above ceilings and pillars. Her vision has always been sharp which helped her to notice such things even with so little light. The room seemed to be made of wood which surprised her as wood is extinct, and only the President had some preserved for personal use, and every building in every nation is only made of flexible rods and glasses, and other materials she is not aware of. As trees were extinct on Earth now she had only read and saw it in history section , that ancient people used to use woods for their living accommodation. Her grandfather had a fascination with wood for which he even took her to an event where they showed a virtual representation of wood houses and all kinds of woods.

Was she dreaming? Was she in heaven? Then how come her body is aching so bad?

'Wait a minute..how am I breathing without any air support? Is the room artificially aired completely? Did someone super rich saved her from almost dying?' , was what Chou Lian thought as she felt no suit on her, and the air was much much sweeter and fresher. She felt like greedily sucking in all of it. Even though 'Mo' clan was rich they never flaunted it and lived a really humble life. Thus, they have always used the most basic artificial air suits.

She slowly sat up, and suddenly her head felt like being hit with something solid which made her see lights of all sorts, and then she began to see something she has never seen before. It felt so surreal. A lot of images and memories came crashing down upon her. She clutched her head strongly with a loud groan. She sweat profusely which made her hairs stuck on her face. Her face flushed red and eyes were so unfocused as if seeing something she never thought she was capable of.

After a while her breathing became normal and she gained back her vision, and the same dull surrounding came to her attention. She let her hands fall beside numbly as she felt all her strength vanishing in thin air.

'What the actual fuck?! How can this be possible?! I think I am dreaming!', Chou Lian thought weakly to herself.

Mo Chou Lian a citizen of the modern, almost dying, Earth found herself to transmigrate to a place which was similar to ancient China but not the China on Earth itself. It was called the "Shuang Dynasty" , and no such dynasty has ever existed in the history of China. And it seems that Chou Lian's soul has transmigrated to this place and now is inhibiting the body of the this Kingdom's prime minister's legitimate daughter's body. Both of them died at the same time in parallel universe which allowed Chou Lian's soul to take her place with ease. The young miss, called Shen Shi Lian, was also 20 like her, and the cause of her death was suicide.

In this time, a female to be unmarried even at the age of 20 was something to see down upon. They believed the prime age to get married was 16 for virtuous females, but as the young lady's mother passed away early even though she was the legitimate daughter she was treated worse then the illegitimate ones. The current wife of her father who was initially a concubine, but became the main wife after her mother's death, did not find any match for her during her prime time as that time around her mother died. That vicious woman under the pretext of making Shi Lian fulfill her filial piety declared she will not accept any marriage for the next four years.

Now at the age of 20, Shi Lian did not have any good option, and at max she could become concubine if she married,

while her four illegitimate sister's were the main wives of good families. Her father who never seemed to like her for she looked a lot like her mother, and her father hated the fact he was betrothed to her mother against his wish. Not knowing what to do, and not wanting to accept this kind of fate she simply chose to jump in her family's deep pond, and end her life.

Now you might be wondering how

Chou Lian got to know about it? Well, she doesn't know herself, but that sudden light and pain she felt was what allowed her to see Shi Lian's memories.

Chou Lian messaged her throbbing head thinking how naive the original owner of the body was to die over such an issue. For the original owner it might have been a big issue, but to end her life without even thinking how big the world was and maybe she could have gotten her true match if she just ventured out.

'Silly!', Chou Lian knocked her head. This era did not allow women to venture out of her home without a man accompanying her. Then how could go out to see the world. Moreover, with a father and stepmother like that her marriage partner could not have been someone reliable.

Chou Lian felt a little sad for the owner. Human life was so fickle be it on the dying Earth or on this place. No matter how much she tries she can never understand the need to fight over resources, people, fame, wealth or simply anything. Life is so vulnerable and short, but people still covet so many things that they forget about the smallest happiness they used to derive from smallest details.

Now that she has gotten a second chance at life she is not going to waste it! Chou Lian will ensure she gets a life where she will be able to spend her time in leisure without needing to worry about anything or any person. But before she starts planning about her retirement life she is going to first catch up on her sleep. It's been so long since she last sleep peacefully, though the bed was just wood planks and the pillow was made of stone, Chou Lian made her travel to the dreamland once she lied down.

Now let's see what the future holds for her.
