After staying over at her house for a few hours more, I finally pull up in front of my house.

I get down and lock the car door behind me, walking slowly to the house. The first person I had to see when I opened the door was my dad.

How convenient.

"Hey sweetie." He waves at me and enters the sitting room.

"You're home early these days." I point out as I join him on the couch.

"I want to see my kids more often." He responds. "And what do you think about an early retirement?" He asks.

"I think we'd go broke."

"I have some savings here and there. Investments everywhere."

"You do you." I say instead. "Um dad?"

"Yeah?"

"It's about my friend."

"Sure?" I'm sure he was thinking which friend I was referring to.

"He said he can't make it."

"Oh." It finally clicks and he looks disappointed.

"He deeply apologizes. He said he's-" I paused.

"He's what honey?"
