The Plateau of Giants (Getting Stronger 4)

As Kane lifted the head of the first Cyclops for me, I gently removed the large eye. I detached it from the head with a swift swipe of Kane's dagger.

I still hadn't replaced the one eyed broken in the Occhiosmead. Just the thought of doing so hurt my heart. During those long 10 years with my uncle, those daggers and Thomas had been my only friends. I wanted to repair it rather than replace it, if I could.

I was staring at the large eye in my two hands, wondering how we would carry three of them, when the eye started to glow with a purple light. My mouth rounded into a soft O-shape as the light condensed and my hands felt the eye shrinking. The purple glow became deeper and more intense. It seemed to shrink into the eye as I watched until resting on my right palm was an egg shaped, deep purple crystal.

I turned to Kane with saucer like eyes in my astonishment. He smiled laughingly at me.
