At 8:30 in the morning on the second day, Li Ruqi arrived at the hotel lobby and looked around.
"Where is everyone?"
She had agreed to meet Wu Li at this time downstairs but didn't see anyone.
A while later, just as Li Ruqi was about to make a phone call, Wu Li, dressed in a white short-sleeved shirt, entered from the main entrance of the hotel, holding some food in his hand.
"Here, Qi City's specialty stuffed soup buns. I've tried them, and they taste good," Wu Li handed the buns to Li Ruqi.
Li Ruqi took the buns, her expression somewhat strange, "Did you specifically go and buy me breakfast?"
Wu Li laughed, "No, I exercise every morning, and bought them on the way back."
Only then did Li Ruqi notice the sweat stains on Wu Li's clothes, "What time did you get up for your morning exercise?"
"Six o'clock."
"Every day?"
"Yes," Wu Li nodded nonchalantly, "You eat first, I'll go change my clothes and come down."
Watching Wu Li's retreating figure, Li Ruqi thought to herself, no wonder he was so skilled at a young age.
If there was any quality in a guy girls would admire, self-discipline would definitely be one, and now Li Ruqi's impression of Wu Li improved a bit.
Ten minutes later, Wu Li, wearing a black down jacket, came downstairs.
"What are your plans for today?" Wu Li asked.
Li Ruqi shook her head, "Haven't decided yet, let's go check out some sights in the city first."
"Let's go then, I made a plan last night, I'll take you around today," Wu Li said with a smile.
...
The two first went to tour a famous tower in Qi City, then Wu Li took Li Ruqi to a street filled with local delicacies to sample the local snacks.
Li Ruqi could tell that Wu Li had indeed put time into planning. The route was well thought out, and the chosen snacks were delicious, suiting her taste. If the two hadn't been strangers before, Li Ruqi would have thought Wu Li knew her preferences in advance, but it seemed like the food Wu Li liked just happened to be what she enjoyed too.
"If only this guy was a few years older," Li Ruqi thought regretfully as she looked at Wu Li next to her. She didn't really like dating younger guys; it made her feel like she was raising a son.
At noon, Wu Li treated Li Ruqi to a local specialty lunch.
"Where to this afternoon?" asked Li Ruqi lazily, slightly stuffed from the meal.
Wu Li smiled, "We'll visit another sight this afternoon, and afterwards we can find a place nearby to have some tea and rest."
Li Ruqi nodded in satisfaction. When on vacation, she preferred a slow pace; too much activity was not relaxing but rather money spent on suffering.
An hour later, the two stood under a commercial building.
Li Ruqi looked puzzledly at Wu Li, "Is there a sight here?"
Wu Li nodded solemnly, "Yes, there's a famous boxing club in Qi City here. I thought I'd take you up to see some muscular guys."
"Holy crap!" Li Ruqi realized, "Eastward Boxing Club is up there?"
Wu Li just smiled, he had planned the itinerary carefully beforehand.
"Smart move, trying to trick me. I was wondering why you were being so attentive, getting breakfast and making plans, it was all leading up to this, huh?" Li Ruqi playfully scolded him.
"So, tell me, did you have fun this morning?"
Li Ruqi thought for a moment and had to admit that Wu Li had been great this morning, considerate throughout and she had enjoyed herself and the food.
"Alright, seeing you put in so much effort, I'll reluctantly accompany you upstairs."
Wu Li was delighted, "Let's go."
The two took the elevator to the sixth floor and found the Eastward Boxing Club according to the directions.
The entrance to the boxing club was a reception desk, obscured by a wall behind it, with the faint sound of hitting echoing from the gym.
"Hello, are you here to sign up?" the receptionist asked with a smile.
Li Ruqi looked at Wu Li; she was just there to watch the fun.
"Hello, may I ask if your Master is in?" Wu Li asked.
"Our Master isn't here today."
"I see, I came today hoping to have a sparring session with your Master, could you please let him know?" Wu Li said with a smile.
"You? A sparring session?" The receptionist sized up Wu Li, then picked up the phone at the front desk. "Brother Zhao, there's a bit of a situation here."
Soon, a stout middle-aged man came out. "What's the issue?"
"Brother Zhao, he says he wants to spar with the Master," the receptionist pointed at Wu Li.
Brother Zhao looked over, saw how young Wu Li was, and a sneer flashed in his eyes as he tilted his head, "You, here to challenge the gym?"
Wu Li still wore a smile, "Just a sparring session."
"Fine, if you're not afraid of dying, follow me," Brother Zhao said and turned to leave, clearly he had encountered situations like this more than once or twice.
Wu Li turned to look at Li Ruqi.
Li Ruqi puzzled, "Why are you looking at me?"
Wu Li, "Not scared?"
Li Ruqi, "Psh, what's there to be scared of? We're already here, and anyways, I'm not the one fighting."
Wu Li nodded, then followed Brother Zhao inside.
The space inside the boxing club was pretty large, with two fighting rings in the middle and various professional equipment surrounding it. There were about twenty people, coaches and students, all busy with their own activities.
Brother Zhao walked to the furthest corner and grabbed a microphone.
"Alright everyone, we've got someone challenging the gym here."
The voice projected from the speakers around, and everyone in the gym stopped what they were doing, following the direction Brother Zhao was pointing to look at Wu Li and Li Ruqi.
"Ohhh!"
Whistles and jeering followed, and the crowd started gathering around.
"Another one not afraid of dying?"
"How many this month?"
"Dude, you even brought your girlfriend. Aren't you afraid of embarrassing yourself?"
"He's quite handsome. Try not to hit his face."
"Hahahaha!"
...
Laughter echoed from every corner, and Li Ruqi's complexion changed as she instinctively hid behind Wu Li. It was her first time being stared at with ill-intent by so many muscular men.
Li Ruqi took a stealthy glance at Wu Li's expression and found him still smiling, seemingly unmoved by the surroundings.
"Cut the chatter, who's up first?" Wu Li asked nonchalantly.
Li Ruqi couldn't help but be impressed by this young man, younger than herself. His courage alone seemed stronger than most people she'd encountered!
"Look who's eager."
Brother Zhao walked casually towards them, looking around, "Anyone interested in giving this handsome guy a try?"
"Coach, I'll go," a man, probably just over twenty and shirtless, stepped forward.
Brother Zhao eyed him, thought a bit, then nodded, "Alright, you spar with our handsome friend here."
Then he looked at Wu Li, "You understand the rules?"
Wu Li nodded and began taking off his jacket.
"Okay, just sign a waiver before the fight, in case you get injured, don't blame us."
