Some twenty minutes later, Gioia was prepared to take her leave.

"I have to do something, Cara. I hope you get better later in the day," she said to Concetta.

Concetta was grateful that she had come to pay her a visit and had even endured the burning heat that her solitary confinement had to offer her guest, Gioia.

"Thanks for stopping by, love. You are very kind. But where are you off to?"

Standing up from her chair, Gioia had moved a distance close to the exit with Concetta strutting behind her. She had deliberately withheld her response to Concetta's question because she knew that if she stayed any longer, she might get delayed.

As soon as they got outside to the scorching flames of the afternoon sun, she turned to look at Concetta and had her reply ready.

"I want to see Carmella," She said to Concetta.

"So, she is more important than me?" Concetta teased and slapped her friend lightly on her shoulder.
