The White Haired Demon Slayer (Part-10)

Running through the hallways, holding the girl close in my arms, I made sure no harm would come to her at all. I kept my spatial detection magic constantly activated, as easily as if it were breathing itself.

Along with continuously infusing my sword with light magic, I killed everything in my way, dispersing monsters into shards of light that disappeared just as quickly. It didn't matter to me how much mana I was spending. The only thing on my mind was the goal I wanted to reach.

I have no idea where I am going and how far it is. All I know is that I can feel it in me. Considering that the young girl I was protecting was saying nothing, just calmly watching forth, I'll assume I'm on the right path. Unstopped and undeterred, I kept running; for there was only one thing to do - secure the villagers, then kill everything.

Continuing on my stride I ran into a pearl white hall, much larger than the usual halls we came across in the monster spawn till now. I dashed into the pearl-white hall to the surprise of a Goblin champion and 9 smaller goblins with him.

The Goblin Champions are usually masters of combat, thus named as such and decorated accordingly. But he was still unlike any I had ever seen. Wearing a gold breastplate and wielding a giant spiked metal club, what stood out to me the most was the corruption that had taken over half his face. The eye on the corrupted side of his face had already been consumed, leaving only a hollow socket with deep purple-black corruption slowly writhing inside.

With a gold breastplate and such a high level of corruption, I have a feeling he is not just a Goblin champion but also a commander of the goblin army. This is deeply concerning, I don't care.

The Goblin champion sent forth his minions to attack me. The path to my goal continued off the second hallway at the left, I need not engage with the Goblin champion. In a flurry of swift light-infused strikes, I instantly disintegrated the goblins charging at me and glared the Goblin champion into backing off in fear of my magic, as I charged down the hallway I intended to go through.

It's hard to say how long it had been since I took off with the young girl in my arms, nor could I remember or care how many I had slain on my way here.

All I care about is that after a long time of running, I had now finally reached, because in front of me was the door leading to the captured villagers.

***Elaina Evreux***

"Elaina!" Sylvie screamed out as I rolled out of the way of an axe slash with Sylvie, saving her from an attack from her blind spot.

Unfortunately, that rescue didn't come without a cost, the axe slashed across my back. Even though the parts secured by my back plate were somehow saved, my upper left back and my lower back still got slashed real bad.

Still, I couldn't let that stop me, turning back to the Goblin, mustering all my strength I blew him far away with a powerful gush of wind. In my pain, I didn't realize how much mana I just used in that attack, and now I regretted it. A gush of momentary weakness rushed through my body.

Thankfully I had Sylvie here, wasting no time she immediately got back on her feet and dumped a bunch of her mana into me, practically reviving me back to fighting form.

"You are bleeding so much! Try slowing down for a few seconds." Sylvie said healing me, even as she herself bled from her knees being scraped terribly off the floor when I rescued her.

"It's nothing..." I said as I mentally shrugged off the pain and called an arrow back to my hand only to shoot it through a couple more goblins.

"Heal yourself first, I can't continue fighting without you. You are-" Pushing a spear out of our way with wind magic, I acknowledged Sylvie looking back at her. "- our only hope of making it out of this alive. We need you."

Sylvie smiled back at me as she completed healing my wounds and drew her rapier, healing her knee wounds as well.

Her smile made me feel better too. I thrust my hand out to bring the arrow I just shot, back to myself... It didn't come back. My smile faded away slowly. I looked for it, and that's when I saw it, the arrow had shattered against the metal shield of one of the goblins I had targeted.

Sylvie realized it too. "That was your last arrow..."

Indeed it was. I had been retrieving as many arrows as I could but just a few minutes ago the quiver on my back had just taken a brutal hit, shattering the quiver and all the arrows in it. I had been fighting with only two arrows left outside the quiver but now I had lost both of them too. One was stuck in a goblin corpse, too far away to retrieve; and now my final arrow too had just been rendered unusable.

With Sylvie covering me from enemy projectiles, we had been maintaining somewhat of a mid-range battle the entire time, rarely engaging in close combat when a goblin somehow managed to get close enough. But now that would no longer be possible. For an archer like me, this was the worst possible situation.

However, I had no plan on giving up. This is my journey to becoming the best adventurer ever, I will not be defeated by something like this.

I held my bow in front of me with both hands like a staff, summoning solid winds around it. As I assumed a stance to engage in close combat, I took a deep breath.

"Don't falter Sylvie! Keep your blade sharp.

WE WILL WIN!"

***Ren Kaizel***

BWAHAHAHAHA. This Grand Orc just pulled a spear off the wall as if that's going to help. He is trying to hit me like he is sweeping the floor, even though it's as long as his height and there is barely any space to even move it. I have been jumping around dodging for the past few minutes and I can't get enough of it. Lol.

Hmm, I wonder what the others are doing.

I take out the Hologlass I recieved from the Guild to contact them, but ah right... Hologlass doesn't work in monster spawns. Same reason usual tracking methods don't work, some distorted magic interference rendering it useless.

But eh no need to worry. They will be fine, Liam is with them. He'll take good care of them. I know I can trust him with that much.

Alright! Back to having some fun. I stepped onto the oncoming spear and jumped, using it to propel myself towards the ceiling, digging my fingers into the ceiling marble to hang from above.

"Try harder you big oaf!!!"
