Will he find the answers he's looking for? Or will an even unimaginable secret unearth itself in front of him?

"What?" I gave him an incredulous look. "No," I said, looking straight ahead on the road. "Don't be stupid."

From the corner of my eye, I could see Alec narrowing his eyes at me. "You do, don't you? You have a thing for her."

"What?" I barked. "You're delusional, Alexander. I don't… I was just—"

"Wait a minute," he interjected. "That is why you went to the hospital leaving me alone at the club? Isn't that right? You went to see Skylar!"

Just then my phone rang, the sound blaring through the car speaker and I was literally saved by the bell. Without looking at the name, I immediately accepted the call. Anything to avoid Alec right now.

"Hey, Jordan. You called?" It was Rose's voice.

I could feel Alec's gaze over me.

"H-hey, Rose. Where are you?" I asked.

"I'm at my apartment. With Maddy."

Her apartment? "But didn't you say she was moving in with her boyfriend?"
