A Spark Of A New Beginning

January/1/Tuesday/2008

Another year of hell to spend in high school…

I'm starting to get bored of my life...

I wish there's something exciting to do while waiting for the next three-hundred and sixty-five days to end.

Suddenly, a friend of mine tapped my back and said, "Hoi, Hector. What are you daydreaming about?"

"Hmm? Oh. Just thinking about what to do for the rest of my years…"

"Woah, you're thinking too much, man. Just relax and- Oh! Maybe we should visit the cyber cafe this evening."

"I'm bored of games…"

"ARE YOU SERIOUS, MAN?"

"Yeah, why?"

He placed his hand on my forehead and said, "You must be sick right now. Get some rest, my friend."

"What?"

I pushed his hand away and said, "I'm just not interested in video games anymore. What's your problem, Sid?"

Sid then kneels in front of me and grabs me by the legs. Are you seriously kidding me right now?

"Please don't quit gaming, Hector! I could barely rank up my game without you…"

"What's the matter with you! Let go of me!"

Oh, crap. Everyone is staring at us. This is embarrassing!

"Hey, Sid. Stop grabbing Hector like that. You're not a kid anymore ya'know."

Oh, thank god. It's Raven.

He got up from his seat and walked towards us like some cool-looking hero.

"But… He said he's bored of games…"

"So? Even if he quit gaming I could still be your carry, we don't need a bookworm like Hector here in our team."

"Oh, maybe you're right, Raven," Sid said as he let go of my legs.

Thank goodness...

"Heh. I'm always right," Raven said as he brushes his faux hawk hair with his hand.

"Wow… A bookworm? Unlike you, I need to focus on my studies too, Mr. D minus."

His expression changed after I called him by that name.

"Tch… Better than getting a F, bookworm."

"It's "an" F, Mr. D minus."

Our eyes started clashing in an attempt to punch each other in the face until...

"The teacher is here!"

A student shouted from outside the classroom. Everyone started to sit properly, and stand up after the teacher's arrival.

It's Lady Alena, our history teacher.

Surprisingly, she becomes a teacher at the age of twenty-five and looked very appealing as a teacher.

"Alright, sit down, everyone."

"Today, we'll have a new transfer student in our class,"

When the word "new transfer student" was heard, all the students were excited.

It's just some random person sent to join us in this hell of a school. What's so special about it to be excited about?

I turned my head towards the window out of interest hoping for Lady Alena to start her lesson soon.

…..

…..

…..

I could hear footsteps tapping on the floor.

Everyone was silent.

Sid was staring with his mouth agape.

Raven took a comb out of his pocket trying to make himself look good.

So the new student is a girl.

Pathetic…

"Now, please introduce yourself," Lady Alena said.

"Hi, my name is Flare Victoria. I was born in a small country, but my family owns a health cosmetic company. Because of that we always had to move overseas, and I had to switch schools all the time,"

"Man… Her voice is so sweet."

"May I ask how a voice can be sweet, Sid?"

"It brings joy whenever you hear it…"

"I see…"

Sid has lost his mind already…

"I totally agree with you, Sid."

"Are you serious, Raven?"

"Don't you feel the same too, Hector?" Raven asked.

"She sounded normal to me."

Raven stared at me with a dead expression and said, "You need to clean up your ears after this…"

"What?"

…..

"That's all! I hope we could be friends after this."

Everybody clapped their hands after she's done introducing herself like she'd just finished some amazing speech. I can't explain how stupid these people are.

"Thank you for introducing yourself, Flare. Your seat is right there."

"Okay."

I could hear the students nearby praising her appearance, and some girls that couldn't maintain their jealousy.

"Bro… She's way hotter than Lady Alena,"

"And cute too!"

"Hmph. She's not that good."

That is what the students said about her.

I heard her pulling a chair from a table near-

Wait a minute?

She's right next to me!

Oh no…

"Hi there."

I ignored her.

"Uh, hello."

"....."

"Um, Hector. She's calling you!"

Oh, thanks a lot, Sid… you're such a TERRIBLE! friend.

"Hmm? Sorry, were you talking to me?"

I finally turned around and was awestruck after seeing her.

She had shining brown eyes just like her hair, it was curvy at the edge like a river with cute bangs covering her forehead.

Surprisingly, she's naturally beautiful with her bright skin.

"Yeah, you seem like the only person who doesn't welcome me here,"

I snapped back to reality and started to respond.

"Heh. Should I even care?"

"No. I'm just curious,"

"Well let me tell you something: Mind your own business,"

"Wow… You're rude,"

"Oh? Did I ask for your opinion?"

"Urgh!"

She turned away from me with a frown on her face and focused on Lady Alena's lesson.

Ah, looks like I won the conversation.

"Heh."

"Hmm?"

All the boys in the classroom suddenly stared at me with murderous intent.

"You better don't make her upset, Hector. Or I will kill you."

"Apologize…"

"You are dead, Nerd."

Oh boy...

"Pay attention please, students."

Everyone glared at me before going back to their seats, and a guy in front of me then gave me a letter that said, [Apologies or you will regret it].

Seriously?

Heh.

Looks like this hell has become more livelier after she walked into this school.

This is going to be an exciting year.
