Unnamed

I stayed up all night staring at the ceiling trying to find answers about what happened today. All of us have spent so much time trying to beat the clock to no avail but some girl can do it effortlessly. It was mimdblowing. Everything we thought we knew and understood was breaking down in front of us. I doubt anyone was sleeping easy tonight.

My alarm went off and I got up and started getting ready for work. Despite hardly sleeping over the past few days I felt surprisingly energized. Maybe today we'd get answers and open up a whole new realm of possibilities. Maybe our gift didn't have to be a curse but instead a blessing. I kept myself hopeful that we would get lucky and find the girl today. But I had to figure something out about this promotion first.

I got to work and my boss was waiting for me in my office with a pile of papers.

"While you will eventually get my office I figured we'd work together in here today to get you all set on your new responsibilities. If you get the hang of it I'll let you go about it yourself after lunch."

I tried my best to pay attention to everything I was being taught while my mind kept wondering to my trip to the Cafe later. The morning actually went by pretty quickly since I was obtaining new information rather than it being the same routine. Once I was allowed to take lunch I left a little too quickly getting a few stares from coworkers wondering why I was so eager to leave.

Hiro was already waiting for me outside the building by the time I got out there. He was just as eager and impatient as I was. We walked a couple blocks down to the bookstore Cafe. Hiro and I stood outside the building for several minutes both nervous and hesitant, hoping we weren't about to be disappointed.

We finally got the courage to walk inside. The interior lived up to the theme of a garden. There were potted plants all over and vines decorated around the walls which were lined with bookshelves. It was like a mini Library with a coffee shop attached. As long as you purchased something you were free to sit and read for as long as you like. Over all it had a nice calm vibe to it compared to the hustle and bustle of the streets outside.

I scanned around the people inside and there was no sight of her. I went up to the cashier.

"Hi, I'm asking this not in a stalker way, which I know is something a stalker might say but I promise it's good intentions. This girl quite literally saved my life yesterday and then disappeared into one of the shops along the strip here before I got a chance to thank her and didn't have time to hunt her down because I was running late for a meeting. I know this might be a dead end but I wanted to give a shot at thanking her properly. She's kind of short, a little heavier set with duct tape on her glasses."

"With that description I know you aren't a stalker. You are looking for Eden. She does stiff like that all the time but never sticks around for any thanks or praise. I can't tell you how many times she's bailed me out of a sticky situation." The cashier replied.

"So she does come here then, I thought I'd never get a chance to find and thank her. Do you know when she usually comes by?"

"Unfortunately she usually just comes and goes as she pleases so there is no telling the next time she will come by or when. Though it is usually often. You can always leave your phone number and next time she comes in I can give it to her. Though that doesn't mean she will actually call you, as I said she doesn't usually take thanks for what she does. Aside from that you'd just have to keep stopping by and hope she's here. Wish I could help you more."

"No you've helped me plenty already, and yes I'd love to leave my number and hope she actually reaches out. Thank you so much for your time." I bought a coffee and a sandwich so I didn't take up her time and her not get any business. After we sat and ate we left the Cafe.

"So," I said to Hiro, "You get what you needed?"

"Sure enough, I had plenty of time to hack the security cameras so we can be on constant watch for her and try and get over here the next time she stops by. Unfortunately they don't keep any footage after 24 hours, its constantly is writing over itself so I can't pull up the footage from her here yesterday to get what she looks like. You'll have to give me a really detailed description so I can try and identify her when she comes in."

"Good hopefully she comes in the next few days. I've only got 30 days to figure this out before my next D-day." D-day is what we called our death day.

"Well hopefully of we do find her you will get some more time. We like having you around. Though I wouldn't mind my inheritance." Hiro joked.

Since I always knew I was gonna die young I never really tried at relationships, just short flings here and there. There wasn't a point innstarting a family I wouldn't be able to live to see flourish. My parents died a few years ago so the only people I have left are my friends and so I pit in my will that Hiro and Suzune would get all my estate and savings so they could put it towards starting their own family. They both were blessed with living a long life while the rest of us had shorter lifespans.

Me and Hiro went our separate ways and headed back to finish our work days.

That evening we all met up online and reported today's events all hopeful we would find her soon.
