Chapter 4: The Demon General, Alphonses Le Deriduzo

The clashing of swords, the gory sound of snapping bones and the familiar sound of the ripping and piercing of flesh filled the air.

Both men and monsters were battling for victory. Some men were fighting alone, some were fighting alongside each other, and some were fighting with their familiars. Familiars are creatures that humans can make a contract with and are bound to a human for life to serve him or her, they vary in race, gender and purposes. A normal human can only have a maximum amount of two creatures. Those able to contract more than two familiars are considered extremely talented.

The mages of the army I came with were already at work shooting all sorts of spells ranging from fire, to water, to wind, earth and to even powerful combinations of these elements.

Elemental combinations, as the name states, are powerful combinations of several compatible elements in order to achieve a powerful attack.

For instance; combining fire and earth gives magma, fire and water gives lightning, fire and air gives a more powerful fire attack, fire and light gives holy flames, and fire and dark gives dark flames.

Water to Earth gives Nature (Although it can be used as an independent magic type), Water to Air gives Ice, Water to Fire gives Lightning, Water to Light gives a purifying liquid called Tears of The Gods, and Water to Dark gives poison and acid.

Air and Water gives Ice, Air and Light or Dark gives a greater manipulation of the element.

In the world there are four basic elements one can have an affinity to; Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. However, they are not the only elements in existence, there two tertiary elements known as Light and Dark.

People who use those are known as Tertiary Users. It is recorded that in the entirety of the human kingdom of Hemire which houses 2.1 billion people, only about 10,000 people have been recorded to be tertiary users.

There are also other forms of magic that one can possess that do not belong to neither basic nor tertiary elements, such as telekinesis, telepathy, sound manipulation, mind control, nature magic, ice magic, and many others to be discovered. These are called Rare Magic and are not a part of basic or tertiary magic.

The normal human is susceptible to having only one affinity while a genius is born dual-elemental. It is possible to be multi-elemental, that is, possessing three or more elements, but it is extremely rare. It is impossible to possess all four elements, only divine creatures such as angels, gods and celestials are capable of that. Even so high level demons possess such talent and power.

I myself have an affinity for tri-elemental, a tertiary user of Light and the user of two rare magic which are Paralysis and the ability to read and convey feelings or emotions.

At the moment I am one of the several Rare Magic users in the human nation.

The battle intensified after about an hour of fighting, the monster horde were constantly pouring out in all directions from the forest.

"Just how many of them are there?!"

"Dammit!!!"

"Ahhhh!!! They're all over me!!! Get them off!!! Get them off!!!"

I notice my men losing the will to fight and I begin speaking while fighting

"Stand your ground men-"

I cut through a troll that lunges at me

"-if they get through us-"

I evade an orc that was about to crush me with its giant mallet, I cut its hamstring, it falls and I stab its neck.

"-they'll destroy the kingdom. So stand! STAND AND FIGHT!!! "

I activate my ability to convey feelings as I speak to my men, causing them to feel the sincerity in my words. Courage returns to them as they began fighting once again.

"We can do this! "

"For Hemire! "

We continue fighting for over two hours and thirty minutes until

*THOOM*

*THOOM*

*THOOM*

*THOOM*

Footsteps. Heavy footsteps. Something's coming, something big. The trees in the nearby distance begin to fall as though being shoved aside like a leaf in the wind.

The footsteps get closer, and it began to cause tremors around us. The trees blocking our view from this humongous creature falls and reveals its terrifying nature.

Its... Its a dragon, but... It's no normal dragon. Its an Aldruid dragon and a man is sitting on its head. An Aldruid dragon is a powerful dragon that is known for its massively destructive capabilities, it possesses four golden horns on each sides of its head, swirling yellow and black patterns all over its scales, its massive claws that was about the size of an average man was like bronze, and is the only monster that has an affinity for three elements. It is also very rare.

The man on the Aldruid is emitting a deadly aura, its so strong, thick and suffocating. I had to activate a skill [Lion's Heart] which makes me bold enough to withstand high energy pressure.

This man had red hair that was tied into a pony tail behind his head which I hear is a symbol of royalty and authority in the demon realm. His sclera were black, while his irises were silver. He wore a crimson suit with a plain purple shirt underneath.

Most of my men were fainting from his immense energy, while i was standing unaffected by his dark miasma. I activate another skill [Unveil] that allows me to see his status

However, there is only one way to take this demon down, and I'm not even sure that might work. I'll save that as my trump card.

Alfonses raises his left hand above his head and keeps it that way for a few seconds before slashing it down and at that split second my instincts tug my body away and the soldier behind me splits in half, his blood and innards spill everywhere.

"You were able to dodge that attack? I'm quite impressed, no normal human could sense it coming or even react fast enough."

"What sort of magic was that?!"

"Oh little human, that wasn't magic"
