Chapter 7: Louis

I can't sleep.

Every time I closed my eyes an image of my parents flash before my eyes. It sent my eyelids flying wide open and a harsh sting to my heart. It's amazing how people that were once filled with so much life become.... nothing.

I adjust myself into a sitting position, looking at the rest and they were all sleeping peacefully. Even Ronan.

Maybe I should take a walk. It's still dark outside, meaning it's possibly midnight. I won't go to far, one of them could wake up any moment and need my help. With that in mind I quickly put on my boots and leave the room quietly.

Passing the sleeping old man in the reception, I leave the motel. Not a sight nor sound to be heard for miles except the crunching of my Boots against the dry sand.

It'll probably take us two hours to arrive at Uncle John's place tomorrow. We should--

My train of thought is interrupted when I realize I'm being followed. I don't stop to look back so that they don't know I'm aware of their presence. Instead I keep walking.

Oh no, did someone hurt my siblings? I need to get back to them as soon as possible! What was I thinking leaving them alone?!

From a distance I can see a small building. As I get closer I come to realize it's a store. I quickly walk behind the building and use the chance to take out my gun. The figure appears from behind the wall and just as I am about to pull the trigger I realize who it is.

"Ronan?! What are you doing? You scared me, I could've shot you!" He didn't seem bothered by the situation cause he had not a single emotion in his eyes. He looks so different, so cold.

It's actually quite intimidating if you ask me. It's in our genes I suppose.

"Come on," we both step into the store and look around. There's no in the cashier check except a few creepy mannequins that seem to be staring directly at us.

"Hello?" No reply. It's probably abandoned because the place looks so dirty. When my eyes land on the stick red liquid on the floor I'm immediately reminded of my parents blood. But I knew it's just a drink.

Unfortunately, Ronan didn't. He stumbles backwards away from the liquid and looks at it with horror. I steady him and give a look of reassurance, "it's just juice."

He seems to calm down a bit but still looks uneasy. We pick up some shopping baskets and separate. I grab some stuff like oreos, skittles and Nutella. They didn't have any good food so I picked a lot. I get some milk for Raelynn along with some water. I come across a clothing department as well and pick some clothes for all of them.

I think this should do it.

"RONAN!" No reply, when does he ever? "Meet me in front of the store, be quick!" My feet start to move back to where I came from but then I feel something coming towards me. Like...

Danger!

I quickly duck just as a whooshing sound is heard. I quickly drop my basket and land a hard punch to my attacker's stomach. He stumbles backwards from the force and I use the opportunity to take the weapon from his hands and hit him on the head with it as hard as I can.

"OW!"

Wait. I know that voice.

My attacker's eyes meet mine and I immediately recognize them. "Waiter guy?"

He sends me a dark glare, "It's Louis."

"What are you doing here?" I ask.

"I live here." He's gotta be joking. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm buying things like every other human that goes to a store. Now, I repeat, what are you doing here?" My free hand itched for my gun, this guy was so close to ending my life!

"I don't have a place to stay for the night so I'm crashing here." He doesn't look me in the eyes when he says this.

"Oh really? Then where were you staying before?" I question further.

"It was an apartment for employees."

"And why aren't you there?"

This time he sends me a venomous look that takes me off guard. "I was fired."

Oh shit.
