Chapter 8

Celestine is in cafeteria eating lunch when she heard the news about hiring a secretary of the CEO. She was about to text him to ask if she is ok to apply to him personally.

"He don't like girls as usual", one of the girl in HR said.

"What do you expect? He is bisexual", the other said.

She overheard what they are saying.

“Dayl is bisexual”, she whispers. He stands up and approaches the girls who are talking. “Hi..you said that Da…I mean the CEO is bisexual”,

“Yes! That was the rumor here. He is bisexual/ gay”, the other answers.

“How did you know? You never get to see him every day”, Celestine said depending Dayl.

“Did you see him with girls? He is always with Sir Ryan and Sir Josh”, the other added.

“They are friends….and……co-owners that’s why they they are always together”, she depends.

“No, they said he is in a relationship with Sir Ryan”,

Celestine is bothered by the rumors she found out. While going back to their department she saw Dayl with Ryan. They are talking and laughing together.

“Don’t overthink Toni, they are friends. That’s what they said to you. Don’t believe the rumors”, she said to herself. She passed them with her face down.

“Celestine”, Ryan called.

“Yes….sir”, she face him.

“Are you going to your department?” he said.

“Yes…sir”, she answered.

“Can you put this in my table?” He said lending the papers to her.

“Sure, sir”, she takes the papers and then leaves.

She is bothered by the actions they are making. She was giving malice every action they are doing.

“I will make him straight man. I will make him fall in love to a girl like me”, she said talking to herself.

“Who are you talking to?” Daniel suddenly appears.

“Sir… Can I help you?” Celestine said.

“Hmmm…yeah… Can you come with me in the meeting?” Daniel asks.

“Hmmm...Sure sir”, she said.

“Thanks..I will treat you dinner later”,

She didn’t know that the meeting is in Dayl’s office. Dayl didn’t surprise to see her with other guy. Daniel will present his project to them. She is writing down every detail in the project. Meanwhile Dayl is walking while Daniel is presenting. He walked towards Celestine and stands beside her.

“How will you get investors about that?” Dayl ask.

“That will make a request from you sir. I will take Celestine for this project”, he said.

“Why?” Dayl asked again.

“Celestine has a very pleasing personality. She can get investor with her charm”, Daniel said again glazing Celestine.

“No…”, Dayl said.

“Why sir?” Daniel asked.

“She works untidy and besides her job is sorting and copying papers. It’s not appropriate for her that work”, Dayl said. “You don’t know how to get investor?”

“I know sir. I am just helping Celestine to get out from her comfort zone”, Daniel said again.

“Let me remind you. Mr. Santos. This is a business, not a school teaching a student to stand by herself”, Dayl said.

Celestine got hurt by the word of Dayl. He is different now. They suddenly she feels a tear fell down from her eyes. The light is off so they can’t see it.

“I will approve your project when you already have investors.” Dayl said. They suddenly the light switched on. Celestine hurriedly wipes her tears.

He went to Daniel to help him with his things.

“Are you crying?” Daniel asked.

“No sir! Something went in my eye”, she said lying. “Come on, sir. You said you will treat me dinner. I am now hungry”

They are walking outside the building when they Dayl went out also in another elevator. They looked each other but Celestine avoids first.

“What do you like?” Daniel asked.

“Anywhere you like”, Celestine said. They are going to Daniel’s car when Dayl’s car passed them.

“Let’s go”, Daniel said but Celestine suddenly stops.

“I’m sorry. Treat me dinner next time.” she said and then walks away from the car.

Celestine walks alone in the street. She is thinking that Dayl doubted her capability in doing such big work like getting invertors.

She reached home 12:00 midnight. She went straight to bed. Not even bothering to wash up and takes her dinner.

She woke up early. She just takes coffee and then goes to work. She was waiting for the elevator when Ryan and Dayl stands in her back.

“Good morning”, Ryan said. She was shocked by talking without any notice.

“butiki….”, she looked at them but then avoids Dayl’s eyes.

“Hmm..Celestine.. You can leave Finance department now”, Ryan said.

“Sir! Why? Did I do something wrong? Why are you firing me?” She is panicking now. “Is it because I attend the meeting yesterday? “She asked.

“No!....you are really innocent and cute”, Ryan pinching his cheeks. “You will be Brendan’s secretary starting from now”,

“What?” she glazed at Dayl. “Why? He said yesterday that I’m not appropriate with a work like secretary”,

“He said that because he doesn’t like you to get closer to Mr. Santos”,

“Why? He didn’t know anything about me”,

“He is very suspicious”, Dayl interrupted. “Just stay away from him”,

Celestine moved to Dayl's office. She was in the middle of arranging his table when she feels dizziness. She sat down and touches her head. Then suddenly the intercom ring.

“Come to my office”, Dayl said from the intercom. She stands up and went to Dayl.

“Yes sir”, she said.

“Here.. This is my schedule for today”, Dayl gives her the schedule. She takes it and then suddenly went dizzy and collapsed.

“Celestine”, Dayl stands up and lift her up. He put her in the sofa.

He calls a doctor to check on her.

“She didn’t eat anything that’s why she collapsed”, the doctor said.

“That’s it. She is not pregnant?”, Ryan said.

“Dude… I didn’t touch her yet”, Dayl said.

“Why? Come on bro.. You are too slow”, Ryan teases Dayl.

“Just make sure she eats when she awakes”, the doctor said.

“Thank you, bro”, Dayl said to the doctor. He is Henry, a friend of his.

“You didn’t touch her in your honeymoon”, Henry said.

“Come on. We are not real”, Dayl said.

“Ok! I’ll better get going”, then Henry leaves.

“I’m going also.This is your chance”, he spats Dayl’s butt.

Celestine opens her eyes and then saw Ryan spat Dayl’s butt. She closed her eyes again and pretended to be asleep. When Dayl went to his table that’s the time she open her eyes.

“What happen?” she said.

“You collapsed”, he said going back to her in the sofa.

“Oh..”,

“The doctor said you didn’t eat anything as of yesterday. You didn’t eat your dinner? You went out with Daniel last night”, he said.

“Ahmmm…no! I just roam around in our village”, she confess.

“What? Why didn’t you call me? It might have something bad happen to you”, he said.

“But I’m fine”, she said.

“Why did you do that?” he asked and sits beside her...

“I am upset of what you did. It feels like you are underestimating my skills in doing big/huge work”, she said and using her hand while explaining.

Dayl suddenly touch her head. “What you want to eat?”

“KFC”, she said without hesistation.

When it comes to Dayl , she can tell whatever she likes.
