Chapter Nine

The crowd roared as she made her way to the arena. The only weapon allowed in this battle was a small dagger. She was nervous. She still hadn't met her opponent. The large gate opened and immediately her father approached her, as battle attired as she was. She gaped at him in silence. He couldn't be her opponent? Could he?

"Close your mouth, Daughter. You'll catch flies" he grinned at her. A large man in a business suit approached them. After silencing the crowd with the mere volume of his voice, he spoke.

"In order for our next leader to be identified, that person must give us a reason to believe in their capabilities. They must be able to fight and conquer any threat. The last man or woman standing will lead us" he declared before exiting.

"Guess it's just you and me now, Daughter. Do put up more of a fight than your mother" he sneered at her. She lunged at him, grazing his arm and making him stumble.
