CHAPTER SEVEN

A SHORT EPISODE

“Stokes!!!!!!!!”

Stokes jumped from his bed on hearing his mum's voice,

"Yes, mum!" "Get out of there now and go feed the dogs," his mother yelled back.

Stokes didn't understand why he was in his room and his normal body without going through the astral projection stuff like before.

They should have fallen inside the water like last time; what happened this time Stokes couldn't understand; the beyond was totally beyond human comprehension, he thought.

He rushed outside; his Dad and sister were already having breakfast in the dining.

"Stokes, what the fuck did you eat yesterday," his Dad asked teasingly,

"Bags of chocolates, I guess," his sister chipped in, smiling broadly.

Stokes didn't comment; he just smiled, went to the kitchen cabinet and took the dog's food.

"Sure you're alright, son," his Dad called from the dining

"I'm okay, Dad," Stokes replied, opening the front door.

Lily was already wagging her tail on seeing Stokes while Billy was jumping up and down, staring at the big pack Stokes was holding.

Everything was normal now; he could feel the rays of the sun; he hadn't felt that for some time.

He had to confirm if Ruby was also safe. Stokes dropped the dog's plate on the ground and was about to pour the food inside when he heard a car coming; he stood up reluctantly to see who it was, the driver looked his way, and the breaks acted instantly.

It was Ruby; she stared at Stokes for a while from inside the open roof Toyota Camry; Stokes also stood there staring at her, the pack of dog food still in his hands while the dogs stared at him trying to figure out what was taking him so long to pour the fucking balls into the plate.

Suddenly Ruby came out of the car and rushed towards Stokes,

"Stokes!!!"

Stokes dropped the dog food pack and opened his arms to receive her embrace. Lily sat back, making sad noises, while Billy went to the box and started tearing it apart.

"Stokes!!!!!! "

Stokes gasped and stopped the kiss instantly; he was dead, it was his mother,

"I said you should feed the dogs, and you're out here kissing a girl?"

"It's..... It's not what you think, mum."

Stokes replied, scratching his head; Ruby looked at her feet shyly,

"Get inside here, the two of you, you'll explain what this early morning kiss is all about," Stokes mother said, closing the front door.

Stokes and Ruby looked at each other simultaneously and laughed; they walked inside hand in hand. Lily continued her sad noises...

"I'll be right there, Lily," Stokes called......
