Corlissa still had the faint smirk resting on her face as the same entity who had attempted to wipe her memories but failed, flew in from the opening made in the ‘sky’. Their black feathers scarcely falling, all the humans were intrigued by what the entity was, they looked human but there had never been reports of humans with wings.
“WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS, AV794D?!” roared the ‘agent’.
The blue-haired female simply glanced at the ‘agent’ and disregarded his presence.
“I said it before, I will say it again. I am the villain. I am your enemy. I will make sure you live accordingly. You can try all you want but you will never defeat me because I have no morals. After all, I am the villainess,” Corlissa declared.
Using her wind magic, she swept by towards the Crown Prince, “I will be taking him as leverage, you can stop me if you can. I doubt anyone in the entire kingdom can scratch me.”
The guards all rushed towards her, working together to push each other up as she was flying higher. All the guards launched attacks, some jumping off of platforms to perform close combat. That innocent righteous image that the public had of Corlissa disintegrated into dust at the very moment she looked down at them as if they were pests and let the attacks hit her.
She was right, even some of the most powerful knights in the kingdom were unable to make a scratch on her skin. What a formidable foe for them to defeat.
The ‘agent’ also felt that she was a threat, she was an unknown enemy despite all their decades of observation. The Crown Prince had the same amount of significance to them as he had to the humans so they were clearly in a tight spot. The ‘agent’ was not royalty, his head may go rolling if he had no excuse for his failure but he did get valuable information which was where the humans stood.
However, kidnapping the Prince was a bold yet effective move, with little effort the Veronique was able to subdue both the entities and the humans. She chose the option that would force both of the parties into a situation where their actions would be restrained.
“You swine, bow your heads. You insignificant race, without AV749D on your side you have no chance of matching up to us,” bellowed the winged entity before extending their wings to exit the scene.
People began exiting their elaborate homes as they witnessed their scenery change, the previously starry night sky with a vibrant white moon began to shatter.
What replaced its presence was a pitch-black sky spluttered with red stars, a moon which was no longer white but instead a crimson shade. A series of tall dark structures decorated the horizon, an unknown sight for the humans who were used to their normal blue skies.
There was a large commotion over the existence of this entity who had spoken down to them in such a way that they had never experienced before, they were used to the petty insults that were carefully hidden behind phrases. That was common in high society.
But they had never experienced being insulted without sugar-coating or being disrespected as a species, it was a first for them.
However, mulling over what had happened was the least of their concerns right now, they didn’t have the leisure to be relaxing at the moment because they were ousted into an unfamiliar world. If they were to believe Corlissa’s words, they were not living in a real world throughout their lives.
The real world would be what they were seeing currently, their world had truly shattered.
They were all completely lost, they had no guidance, their social structure simply collapsed into chaos. The remnants of their dark starry sky had soon broken off to display the new world they were in. Instead of the whimsical aura that their world emitted, a feeling of fear emanated off of their surroundings.
They had proceeded to the courtyard in front of the palace where the commoners and middle class were already grouped together. In the instance they had joined with the rest of the human population, they were immediately greeted by people with raven feathered wings.
Those entities had flown in, there was even a young child within the crowd who had viewed the humans with a look of disgust and superiority.
“D-Demons…!!” a man screamed from the crowd of humans.
In response to this, an entity dressed in armour quickly sent that human’s head off their shoulders. Splatters of crimson were painted over the expressions of shock that were plastered on the people around that man.
“I ask that you would lay your hands off of my fellow comrades,” rang a voice from above.
Everyone turned their heads to reveal the identity of the voice, the Grand Mage Eliot Demetrius who was floating high above the rest of the humans. The other high ranking officials all stood in front of the crowd prepared to retaliate should the situation escalate to such a point.
“Tch, let’s go, we need to wait for His Majesty’s orders before proceeding further. Could the public please evacuate the area!! Everything is under control!” voiced the same entity who had sliced a human’s head off.
Their statement had brought the humans to observe their surroundings where countless pairs of crimson gazes filled with curiosity surrounded them. It was as if a carriage had crashed, people would crowd around to get a better look at what had happened, the humans were treated like the subject of such stares.
Those piercing stares soon disappeared as they were told to evacuate the area, leaving the humans to their own entertainment, otherwise known as internal conflict. The useless and undesired situation for any of the logical minds to be in.
“What do we do?!”
“Dear God, please be benevolent on our sinful souls and give us guidance…” someone began to mutter under their breath.
“God can’t help us now! Do you think God can help us out of this situation now!?!”
“Curse that Veronique!! We should rid of all the Veroniques!!!”
“LET’S THINK ABOUT THIS LOGICALLY!!”
The previously normal response then erupted into a sea of unintelligible roars that made no progress towards finding a stable balance.
“Silence!” the commanding voice of the King resounded through the various yells of the people.
“Assess the situation,” the King requested of his aides.
“The Crown Prince has been taken by Miss Corlissa Veronique and we are now in another species’ territory. We are yet to be aware of the full situation so we mustn’t jump to conclusions,” spoke the Chancellor, Count Valion Prudentius.
Although it pained him to say this, he had to separate his personal views from facts from an objective perspective, thus he continued, “Miss Corlissa Veronique’s actions are to be judged as remote defiance and thus she will be labelled as a criminal.”
The Commander of the 1st Knight Squadron, Marquis Rendall Lancelot, still had to fill in his role in society despite his urge to protest that the Veronique was innocent. “We will increase patrols and employ the mages to form a barrier. If Corlissa Veronique is sighted, we will do everything in our power to seize her and rescue the Crown Prince.”
Despite how pained he was to utter such words, nothing could be done, they were in a situation where personal feelings would cause the entire population to lose their stability.
Duke Eston Veronique did not say a word throughout the entire process, he kept his head down. His expression was shadowed so no one could tell what emotions he was feeling.
‘I’m sorry my precious daughter for not being able to protect you from them. I’m sorry that you had to resort to taking actions yourself. I’m sorry that you had to shoulder the burden all by yourself. I hope that you can forgive me.’
'Even if we aren't blood related.'
